Teknostressin muodostuminen perustuu stressin peruskäsitteeseen ja se syntyy ihmisen ja teknologian välisestä vuorovaikutuksesta. Kielteiset kokemukset teknologian kanssa voi kuormittaa yksilöitä monella eri tavalla vaikuttaen akateemiseen tuottavuuteen ja pahimmillaan aiheuttaa opintojen keskeytymisen. Teknologian lisääntynyt käyttö korkeakouluasteen koulutuksessa on pakottanut opiskelijat suorittamaan kaiken akateemisen työnsä teknologiaa käyttäen. Yleisenä oletuksena on, että teknologiasukupolvea edustavat opiskelijat ovat immuuneja teknostressille. Tutkimuskirjallisuuden pohjalta toteutettiin laadullinen tutkimus, jossa hyödynnettiin teemahaastatteluita. Haastattelut toteutettiin 18–29-vuotiaille korkeakouluopiskelijoille, joilla oli negatiivisia käyttökokemuksia mobiiliteknologian kanssa. Tämän tutkimuksen perusteella korkeakouluopiskelijoiden kokemassa teknostressissä havaitaan monia samankaltaisia piirteitä, kuten aikaisemmissa tutkimuksissa on esiintynyt. Ilmoitusten runsaus ja siitä aiheutuvat keskeytykset nähdään tämän tutkimuksen pohjalta suurimpana haasteena opiskeluiden sujuvuudelle arjessa. Helppo pääsy mobiililaitteille koetaan ongelmallisena, sillä merkittävä osa opiskelusta tapahtuu kyseistä teknologiaa hyödyntäen. This thesis explores the technostress caused by mobile technology among university students. The study aims to find out which features of mobile technology contribute to technostress and what impact this has on studying. Technostress is based on the basic concept of stress and arises from the interaction between humans and technology. Negative experiences with technology can stress individuals in a variety of ways, affecting academic productivity and, in some cases, causing dropouts. The increased use of technology in higher education has forced students to do some of their academic work using technology. The general assumption is that students of the technology generation are immune to technostress. Based on the research literature, a qualitative study was conducted using thematic interviews. The interviews were conducted with students of higher education aged 18-29 with negative user experiences with mobile technology Based on this study, many similarities are found in the technostress experienced by higher education students, as has been found in previous studies. The high number of notifications and the resulting interruptions are seen as a major challenge to the smooth running of studies in everyday life. Easy access to mobile devices is perceived as a problem, as a significant part of learning takes place using this technology.
