Investointi viittaa \noppimisymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n ja ryhm\u00e4n normeihin sitoutumiseen oman identiteetin \nrakentumisen ja sosiaalisen p\u00e4\u00e4oman kerrytt\u00e4misen kautta. \nTutkimus toteutettiin yhdist\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 eri tutkimusmetodeja. Opiskelijoille teetettiin \nkysely, jonka tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 oppilaiden investoitumisen taso, sek\u00e4 \ninvestoinnin tapoja kaikilta investoinnin osa-alueilta: sosiaalinen identiteetti, p\u00e4\u00e4oma ja \nideologiat. Kyselyn pohjalta oppilaiden opettajille tehtiin puolistrukturoitu \nteemahaastattelu, jolla kartoitettiin opettajien n\u00e4kemyksi\u00e4 oppijoiden investoinnista. \nTutkimuksessa selvisi, ett\u00e4 oppimistulosten ja investoinnin v\u00e4lill\u00e4 ei ole suoraa \nyhteytt\u00e4, mutta niiden suhde toisiinsa on monisyinen ja vaihtelee yksil\u00f6iden v\u00e4lill\u00e4. \nTutkitut ryhm\u00e4t olivat investoituneet luokan k\u00e4yt\u00e4nteisiin ja oppimisen tapoihin \nyleisell\u00e4 tasolla. Heill\u00e4 oli paljon \nk\u00e4ytt\u00f6kohteita englannin kielelle, eik\u00e4 kyselyist\u00e4 ilmennyt merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 vastustusta \nlukion opetussuunnitelman perusteiden tavoitteita kohtaan.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The aim of this master\u2019s thesis was to investigate Finnish general upper secondary \nschool students\u2019 investment in English language learning, and if investment is connected \nto language learning outcomes.\nThe study was conducted by using mixed methods, and the students\u2019 level of \ninvestment, as well as ideologies were investigated by conducting a questionnaire. \nQuestionnaire analyzed all the components of investment: social identity, capital, and \nperceived benefits and ideologies. Based on the questionnaire, a semi-structured theme \ninterview was created for the teachers. Quantitative methods were used to report the \nstudents\u2019 level of investment. Qualitative methods were used to analyze the themes for \nthe teacher interview. The theme interview aimed to examine the teachers\u2019 views on the \nthemes in the students\u2019 answers. \nThe findings were that there is no statistically significant connection between\ninvestment and learning outcomes, but their relationship is multifaceted and varies from \nindividual to individual. Students invest in English learning in different ways, but in \ngeneral they are invested in the classroom practices and working. The students \nexperience that they can bring out all their capital that they want, and they appreciate \neach other\u2019s capital: they are willing to learn and skillful. The students criticized some \nof the school practices, such as the busy schedule and language that is impractical for \ntheir everyday lives.
