Tutkimuksen avulla oli tarkoitus saada selville, miss\u00e4 m\u00e4\u00e4rin kasvun ajattelutapa ja muuttumaton ajattelutapa ilmenev\u00e4t oppilaiden omissa ajattelutavoissa. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimuksella selvitettiin, onko ajattelutavoilla \u00e4lykkyydest\u00e4 ja liikunnallisesta lahjakkuudesta yhteytt\u00e4 kesken\u00e4\u00e4n. \n\nDweckin (2000, 2\u20134) mukaan ihmisten toimintaa ja motivaatiota ohjaa sek\u00e4 selitt\u00e4\u00e4 kaksi erilaista ajattelutapaa: kasvun ajattelutapa sek\u00e4 muuttumaton ajattelutapa. Kasvun ajattelutapa tarkoittaa ajattelutapaa, jossa uskotaan ihmisten kykyihin oppia uutta sek\u00e4 kehitt\u00e4\u00e4 omaa \u00e4lykkyytt\u00e4 ja persoonallisuutta. Muuttumaton ajattelutapa puolestaan tarkoittaan sellaista ajattelua, jossa uskotaan ihmisen syntym\u00e4ss\u00e4 saaneen tietyn, rajallisen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n \u00e4lykkyytt\u00e4 ja lahjakkuutta, eik\u00e4 sit\u00e4 voi muuttaa tai lis\u00e4t\u00e4. (Dweck, 2000, 2\u20134; Tirri & Kuusisto 2019, 35.) Kasvun ajattelutavan mukaisesti oppilaita tulisi koululiikunnassa kannustaa harjoittelemaan pitk\u00e4j\u00e4nteisesti sek\u00e4 kehitt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n omaa osaamistaan.\n\nPerusopetuksen opetussuunnitelman perusteiden (2014) mukaan liikunnassa oppilaat oppivat pitk\u00e4j\u00e4nteist\u00e4 itsens\u00e4 kehitt\u00e4mist\u00e4 sek\u00e4 kehitt\u00e4v\u00e4t my\u00f6nteist\u00e4 min\u00e4k\u00e4sityst\u00e4\u00e4n. Liikunnanopetuksen tulisikin tarjota oppilaille p\u00e4tevyyden kokemuksia, joita pyrit\u00e4\u00e4n tukemaan esimerkiksi oppilaille sopivilla teht\u00e4vill\u00e4 sek\u00e4 kannustavalla palautteella. (Perusopetuksen opetussuunnitelman perusteet 2014.) Pentik\u00e4inen, Palom\u00e4ki, & Heikinaro-Johansson (2016) puolestaan toteavat, ett\u00e4 todenn\u00e4k\u00f6isyys positiiviselle koululiikuntaan suhtautumiselle selittyy esimerkiksi korkeaksi koetulla liikunnallisella osaamisella, oppiaineen koetulla hy\u00f6dyllisyydell\u00e4 sek\u00e4 kiitett\u00e4v\u00e4ll\u00e4 liikunnan arvosanalla. Toisaalta oppilaan oma k\u00e4sitys itsest\u00e4\u00e4n selitti koululiikuntaan suhtautumista enemm\u00e4n, kuin oppilaan todelliset liikuntataidot tai fyysinen kunto. Siksi oppilaiden p\u00e4tevyydenkokemuksilla ja n\u00e4iden tukemisella on liikunnanopetuksessa keskeinen merkitys. \n\nTutkimuksen aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin Webropol-kyselyohjelman avulla touko-kes\u00e4kuussa 2023, ja se koostui 21 pohjoiskarjalaisesta yl\u00e4koulun 7\u20139 luokilla olevasta nuoresta. Tutkimuksessa k\u00e4ytettiin sek\u00e4 m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llisi\u00e4 ett\u00e4 laadullisia tutkimusmenetelmi\u00e4. Aineistosta analysoitiin m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llisin menetelmin aineistosta luotuja v\u00e4itt\u00e4m\u00e4pareja, joita analysoitiin IBM SPPS-tilastomenetelm\u00e4ohjelman avulla. Aineiston avoimia vastauksia analysoitiin laadullisesti, k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en teorial\u00e4ht\u00f6ist\u00e4 sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysia. \n\nTutkimustulosten mukaan oppilaiden ajattelutavat \u00e4lykkyydest\u00e4 edustivat kasvun ajattelutapaa sek\u00e4 ajattelutapojen yht\u00e4aikaisuutta. Liikunnallisesta lahjakkuudesta oppilaiden ajattelutavat edustivat kasvun ajattelutapaa. Ajattelutapojen yhteydet olivat kuitenkin ristiriitaiset. Main goal was to define how growth mindset and fixed mindset appear in students\u2019 thinking about intelligence and physical ability. Additionally, the goal was to examine whether these mindsets were connected to each other. \n\nAccording to Dweck (2000, 2\u20144) our actions and motivation are guided and explained by two different mindsets: growth mindset and fixed mindset. Growth mindset is defined as a way of thinking, where it is believed that person can learn new things and develop their intelligence and personality. Fixed mindset on the other hand is defined as thinking where it is believed that person has only limited amount of intelligence and abilities, and one cannot change or increase it. (Dweck, 2000, 2\u20134; Tirri & Kuusisto 2019, 35.) (Tirri & Kuusisto 2019, 37\u201338.) Therefore it is important to encourage students to practice persistently and develop their own skills in physical education. \n\nAccording to Finnish National Core Curriculum (2014) physical education can help students to learn how to develop themselves persistently and improve their positive self-image. Physical education should offer possibilities where students can feel competent. This can be achieved trough suitable tasks and supportive feedback. Pentik\u00e4inen, Palom\u00e4ki, & Heikinaro-Johansson (2016) have stated that the probability on a positive attitude towards physical education is explained by high perceived physical skills, considered benefits of the subject and excellent grade in physical education. On the other hand, students\u2019 own opinions about themselves explained their attitudes towards physical education more than their physical skills or fitness level. As a result, it is important to support students\u2019 competence in physical education. \n\nThe material used in this study was collected in May-June 2023 using Webropol survey and reporting software. The material consisted of 21 upper comprehensive school students in grades 7-9 in Northern Karelia of Finland. Study was conducted by both quantitative and qualitative research methods. The material in questionnaire was analysed quantitatively with IBM SPSS Statistics software and the open-ended questions were analysed with qualitative methods using theory driven content analysis. \n\nThe results of this study show that students\u2019 mindsets considering intelligence represented both growth mindset and mindset simultaneity. In turn, mindsets considering physical abilities represented growth mindset. The connections between these two mindsets were conflicted.
