Tarkastelun kohteena ovat siis korkeakouluopiskelijoiden vapaa-ajalla käytetty teknologia sekä eustressi kokemukset teknologiaa käyttäessä. Tutkielma muodostuu kirjallisuuskatsauksesta ja empiirisestä tutkimuksesta. Kirjallisuuskatsauksessa keskitytään tekno-eustressin tutkimukseen ja teknologian käyttökokemukseen. Empiirisessä tutkimuksessa puolestaan tarkastellaan korkeakouluopiskelijoiden tekno-eustressi kokemuksia laadullisen teemahaastattelun avulla. Syntyneestä aineistosta koottiin korkeakouluopiskelijoiden käyttämän teknologian luonnetta ja tekno-eustressin kokemusta kuvaavat teemat sekä kehitettiin tekno-eustressin eri rooleja kuvaava malli, jossa eri rooleja ovat distressin välttäminen, eustressin voimistaminen, syvä tekno-eustressi ja jälkihöyryjen hyvä olo. Malli osoitti, että tekno-eustressin rooli voi vaihdella sen mukaan, miten tärkeäksi yksilö kokee tekno-eustressiä synnyttävän toiminnan taustalla olevat motiivit. Tutkimuksen tuloksia voidaan hyödyntää tutkimuskenttää syventävissä tutkimuksissa sekä eri rooleihin sopivien teknologioiden kehittämisen tukena. The thesis examines the experiences of higher education students from the perspective of positive stress caused by technology. The reader will get a holistic picture of what techno-eustress is and the issues that contribute to a good experience of using technology. The paper explores the role of techno-eustress as experienced by higher education students in their leisure time. The focus is on the technology used by students in their leisure time and the experiences of eustress when using technology. The thesis consists of a literature review and an empirical study. The literature review focuses on techno-eustress research and technology use experiences. The empirical study, on the other hand, examines the techno-eustress experi-ences of students through a qualitative thematic interview. From the generated data, themes describing the nature of technology use and the experience of techno-eustress among students were collected and a model of the different roles of techno-eustress was developed. Different roles are avoiding distress, intensifying eustress, deep techno-eustress and feeling good in the aftermath. The model showed that the role of techno-eustress can vary depending on how important the individual perceives the motives behind the techno-eustress-inducing activity to be. The results of the study can be used to further research the techno-eustress field and to support the development of technologies that are suitable for the different roles techno-eustress has.
