Useat tutkimukset ovat osoittaneet arvioinnin olevan jopa merkitt\u00e4vin \nopiskelijoiden oppimista ja opiskelua ohjaava sek\u00e4 niihin vaikuttava tekij\u00e4. Perinteisesti \nkorkeakoulutuksen arviointi on keskittynyt opiskelijoiden testaamiseen ja osaamisen \nmittaamiseen. Vaikka arvioinnin painopiste on siirtynyt muuttuneiden oppimisk\u00e4sitysten my\u00f6t\u00e4 \nyh\u00e4 opiskelijal\u00e4ht\u00f6isempiin k\u00e4yt\u00e4nt\u00f6ihin ja sen rooli oppimisen tukijana tunnistetaan yh\u00e4 \nparemmin, ei arvioinnin k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6ist\u00e4, sen teht\u00e4v\u00e4st\u00e4 ja merkityksest\u00e4 ole selke\u00e4\u00e4 \nyksimielisyytt\u00e4. Arvioinnin kehitt\u00e4misen tarve on jatkuva ja ilmeinen, ja kehitt\u00e4misty\u00f6ss\u00e4 \nkeski\u00f6\u00f6n tulisi nostaa opiskelijoiden kokemukset arvioinnista. N\u00e4in ollen t\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen \ntarkoituksena oli tutkia opiskelijan arviointia kokemuksellisena ilmi\u00f6n\u00e4 opiskelijoiden \nn\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli lis\u00e4t\u00e4 ymm\u00e4rryst\u00e4 arvioinnista \nfysioterapeuttiopiskelijoiden kokemusten kautta.\nTutkimus toteutettiin laadullisena haastattelututkimuksena fenomenologis-hermeneuttista \nmetodologiaa hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4en. Tutkimukseen osallistui yhteens\u00e4 viisi fysioterapeuttiopiskelijaa\nyhdest\u00e4 suomalaisesta ammattikorkeakoulusta. Tutkimuksen aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin \npuolistrukturoiduin yksil\u00f6haastatteluin. Haastattelut toteutettiin et\u00e4yhteyksin Zoom-ohjelmalla \njoulukuun 2022 ja helmikuun 2023 aikana. Haastatteluaineisto litteroitiin sanatarkasti \ntekstimuotoon ja analysoitiin tulkitsevalla fenomenologisella metodilla (IPA, interpretative \nphenomenological analysis).\nIPA-analyysin tuloksena muodostui kaksi tutkittavaa ilmi\u00f6t\u00e4 kuvaavaa jaettua kokemusteemaa: \n1) kokemus arvioinnin sudenkuopista ja 2) kokemus arvioinnin onnistuneista askelmerkeist\u00e4. \nEnsimm\u00e4inen, arviointiin liitettyj\u00e4 kielteisi\u00e4 kokemuksia kuvaava jaettu kokemusteema \nmuodostuu kolmesta alateemasta: kokemus ep\u00e4oikeudenmukaisesta arvioinnista, kokemus \nep\u00e4tarkoituksenmukaisesta arvioinnista ja kokemus arvioinnista testitilanteena. Toinen,\narviointiin liitettyj\u00e4 my\u00f6nteisi\u00e4 kokemuksia kuvaava jaettu kokemusteema muodostuu kahdesta \nalateemasta: kokemus tarkoituksenmukaisesta arvioinnista ja kokemus arvioinnista \noppimistilanteena. \nTutkimuksen tulokset lis\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4t ja syvent\u00e4v\u00e4t ymm\u00e4rryst\u00e4 arvioinnista \nfysioterapeuttiopiskelijoiden kokemusten kautta. Tuloksia voidaan hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 \nfysioterapeuttikoulutuksen arvioinnin suunnittelussa, toteutuksessa ja kehitt\u00e4misess\u00e4. Several studies have indicated that student assessment is \neven the most significant factor affecting and directing students\u2019 learning. Traditionally, \nassessment in higher education has focused on measuring knowledge and competence. The shift \nin the focus has moved towards more student-centered assessment practices that emphasise the \nrole of assessment in fostering learning. However, a consensus on the precise role and meaning \nof assessment remains elusive. Consequently, the need to develop assessment practices in \nhigher education is evident, with a particular emphasis on listening to the student perspective. \nTherefore, the aim of this study was to explore the assessment experiences of physiotherapy \nstudents to enhance the understanding of assessment from students\u2019 experiential viewpoint.\nThe study was conducted as a qualitative interview study utilizing the phenomenological hermeneutic methodology. A total of five physiotherapy students from a Finnish University of \nApplied Sciences participated in the study. The interview data was collected via individual \nsemi-structured interviews conducted on Zoom in December 2022 and February 2023. The \ninterviews were transcribed verbatim, and the data was analysed using interpretative \nphenomenological analysis (IPA).\nTwo group experiential themes (GETs) describing the assessment experience emerged from the \nanalysis illuminating the lived experiences under exploration: 1) the experience of pitfalls in \nassessment and 2) the experience of successful steps in assessment. The first group experiential \ntheme describing the negative aspects related to assessment experience comprised of three \nsubthemes: the experience of unequal assessment, the experience of inexpedient assessment \nand the experience of assessment as a testing situation. The second group experiential theme \ndescribing the positive aspects related to assessment experience comprised of two subthemes: \nthe experience of expedient assessment and the experience of assessment as a learning situation. \nThe results of this study contribute to a deeper understanding of student assessment experiences\nfrom the perspective of physiotherapy students. The results can be utilized for the planning, \ndevelopment, and implementation of student assessment in physiotherapy education. In the \nfuture, it would be important to explore students\u00b4 experiences related to assessment in various \nFinnish physiotherapy educational contexts.
