Kuukautiskierron mukana tulevat vaihtelut saattavat vaikuttaa hiilihydraatti- ja rasva-aineenvaihduntaan sek\u00e4 levossa ett\u00e4 harjoittelun aikana. Estrogeeni- ja progesteronipitoisuuksien vaihteluiden vaikutusta tulee tutkia niin suorituskyvyn kannalta kuin terveyteen vaikuttavien tekij\u00f6iden vuoksi naisurheilijoilla sek\u00e4 liikuntaa harrastavilla naisilla. Kuukautiskiertoon mukautetussa harjoittelussa tietyss\u00e4 kierron vaiheessa painotetaan harjoittelun volyymia tai intensiteetti\u00e4 suhteessa muihin kierron vaiheisiin. Korkeaintensiteettisen intervalliharjoittelun (HIIT) on todettu olevan tehokas keino kehitt\u00e4\u00e4 maksimaalista hapenottokyky\u00e4 sek\u00e4 v\u00e4hent\u00e4\u00e4 kehon rasvamassan m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, havaitaanko eroa kehonkoostumuksen sek\u00e4 veren rasva-arvojen muutoksissa perinteisen kest\u00e4vyysharjoittelun ja kuukautiskiertoon mukautetun kest\u00e4vyysharjoittelun v\u00e4lill\u00e4. \n\nTutkittavat jaettiin kolmeen eri ryhm\u00e4\u00e4n: kontrolliryhm\u00e4 (n = 9), joka suoritti kest\u00e4vyysharjoittelua tasaisesti koko jakson ajan (CON), luteaalivaiheen ryhm\u00e4 (n = 10), joka painotti harjoittelua kierron luteaalivaiheeseen (LP) sek\u00e4 follikulaarivaiheen ryhm\u00e4 (n = 10), joka painotti harjoittelua kierron follikulaarivaiheeseen (FP). Tutkimukseen osallistui 29 naista (ik\u00e4 30,0 \u00b1 4,2 vuotta, BMI 24,3 \u00b1 2,9 kg/m2). Tutkittavat suorittivat 16 viikon harjoitusjakson, joka sis\u00e4lsi 8 viikon kohtuukuormitteisen kest\u00e4vyysharjoitusjakson (MIET) ja 8 viikon korkeaintensiteettisen inter-valliharjoitusjakson (HIIT). Kehonkoostumusta mitattiin kolmessa eri mittapisteess\u00e4 bioimpedanssilla ja ymp\u00e4rysmitoilla (olkavarsi, vy\u00f6t\u00e4r\u00f6, lantio ja reisi) sek\u00e4 kahdessa mittapisteess\u00e4 DXA:lla. Veren rasva-arvot mitattiin kolmessa eri mittapisteess\u00e4 paastoverin\u00e4ytteest\u00e4 kierron follikulaarivaiheessa. Ryhmien v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 eroja tarkasteltiin nonparametrisell\u00e4 Kruskall-Wallisin testill\u00e4 sek\u00e4 LP- ja FP-ryhmien v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 eroja kahden eri harjoitusjakson j\u00e4lkeen Mann-Whitney U -testill\u00e4. \n\nKontrolliryhm\u00e4n sek\u00e4 luteaali- ja follikulaarivaiheen ryhmien v\u00e4lill\u00e4 havaittiin tilastollisesti merkitsev\u00e4 ero (p < 0,05) BMI:n, vy\u00f6t\u00e4r\u00f6nymp\u00e4ryksen, ja rasvamassan m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n muutoksessa. Tilastollisesti merkitsev\u00e4 ero (p < 0,01) havaittiin ryhmien CON ja LP v\u00e4lill\u00e4 vatsan alueen rasvamassan m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n muutoksessa. Kontrolliryhm\u00e4ll\u00e4 muutokset rasvamassan m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4ss\u00e4 sek\u00e4 muissa kehonkoostumuksen muutoksissa olivat suurempia verrattuna luteaali- ja follikulaariryhmiin. LP- ja FP-ryhmien v\u00e4lill\u00e4 havaittiin tilastollisesti merkitsev\u00e4 ero reiden ymp\u00e4rysmitan muutoksessa MIET-harjoitusjaksolla: LP-ryhm\u00e4n reiden ymp\u00e4rysmitta pieneni (-0,4 cm) ja FP-ryhm\u00e4n kasvoi (+1,7 cm). \n\nTulosten perusteella perinteinen kest\u00e4vyysharjoittelu voisi olla tehokkaampi keino v\u00e4hent\u00e4\u00e4 kehon rasvamassaa 16 viikon harjoitusjakson aikana verrattuna kuukautiskiertoon mukautettuun kest\u00e4vyysharjoitteluun. These variations may affect carbohydrate and fat metabolism both at rest and during exercise. The impact of estrogen and progesterone fluctuations needs to be studied for both performance and health-related reasons among female athletes and physically active women. Menstrual cycle mediated training emphasizes the volume or intensity of training during specific phases of the menstrual cycle. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) has been found to be an effective method for improving maximal oxygen uptake and reducing body fat mass. The purpose of this study was to deter-mine if there were differences in changes in body composition and blood lipid levels between traditional endurance training and menstrual cycle mediated endurance training.\nParticipants were divided into three different groups: a control group (n = 9) that performed endurance training evenly throughout the entire period (CON), a luteal phase group (n = 10) that emphasized training during the luteal phase of the cycle (LP), and a follicular phase group (n= 10) that emphasized training during the follicular phase of the cycle (FP). The study included 29 women (age 30.0 \u00b1 4.2 years, BMI 24.3 \u00b1 2.9 kg/m2). Participants completed a 16-week training period, consisting of an 8-week moderate-intensity endurance training period (MIET) and an 8-week high-intensity interval training period (HIIT). Body composition was measured at three different time points using bioimpedance, and circumferences (upper arm, waist, hip and thigh) and at two time points using DXA. Blood lipid levels were measured at three different time points from fasting blood samples during the follicular phase of menstrual cycle. Differences between groups were assessed using the nonparametric Kruskall-Wallis test, and differences between menstrual cycle groups at two different time points were evaluated using the Mann-Whitney U test.\nStatistically significant differences (p < 0.05) were observed between the control group and the luteal and follicular phase groups in the changes in BMI, waist circumference, and fat mass. A statistically significant difference (p < 0.01) was observed in the changes in abdominal fat mass between groups CON and LP. In the control group, the decrease in fat mass and other changes in body composition were greater compared to the luteal and follicular groups. No statistically significant differences were observed in blood lipid levels or their changes. A statistically significant difference was observed in the changes in thigh circumference between LP and FP groups after the MIET training period: the LP group showed a reduction (-0.4 cm), while the FP group showed an increase (+1.7 cm). \nBased on the results, traditional endurance training may be a more effective of reducing body fat mass over a 16-week training period compared to menstrual cycle mediated training. Training emphasizing the luteal phase also resulted in differences between the LP and FP groups during the MIET period.
