Avoiding these limitations is however possible with a clever combination of techniques. In this thesis interferometric pulsed optomechanical measurement series were done on a nanobeam photonic crystal resonator to measure its position quadrature as measuring only one quadrature at a time allows for dodging the standard quantum limit.
