Luetun ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4misell\u00e4 on merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4 rooli kielenoppijan min\u00e4pystyvyyteen ja osallisuuteen ja lopulta integroitumiseen suomalaiseen yhteiskuntaan. S2-opettajan teht\u00e4v\u00e4 on antaa v\u00e4lineit\u00e4 luetun ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4miseen, ja lukustrategiat ovat t\u00e4ss\u00e4 keskeisess\u00e4 roolissa. N\u00e4it\u00e4 toiminta- ja ajattelumalleja tulee hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 ennen lukemista, lukemisen aikana ja lukemisen j\u00e4lkeen. Lis\u00e4ksi niiden opetus pit\u00e4isi sis\u00e4llytt\u00e4\u00e4 jatkuvasti opetukseen, jotta ne muodostuisivat automaattisiksi oppijalle. \nTutkimukseen on haastateltu viitt\u00e4 S2-opettajaa, jotka opettavat tai ovat opettaneet B1\u2013C1-tason opiskelijoita. Teoreettinen viitekehys rakentuu lukemisen ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4misen strategioista muodostetun mallin ymp\u00e4rille. Strategiat toimivat my\u00f6s teemahaastattelun teemoina. Aineistosta analysoidaan teorial\u00e4ht\u00f6isell\u00e4 sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysill\u00e4 S2-opettajien k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 lukemisen ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4misen strategioista ja kartoitetaan heid\u00e4n hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4mi\u00e4\u00e4n strategioita. Lis\u00e4ksi selvitet\u00e4\u00e4n, miten strategiat v\u00e4littyv\u00e4t opetukseen ja S2-oppijoille. \nTutkimuksen mukaan S2-opettajat ajattelevat lukustrategioiden olevan p\u00e4\u00e4s\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6isesti hy\u00f6dyllisi\u00e4 apuv\u00e4lineit\u00e4 lukemisen ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4miseen. Strategia-nimityst\u00e4 k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n, mutta yht\u00e4 lailla puhutaan tekniikoista ja ty\u00f6kaluista. M\u00e4\u00e4ritellyist\u00e4 strategioista S2-opettajat hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4v\u00e4t usein selvent\u00e4mist\u00e4 ja johtop\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6sten tekemist\u00e4. Sen sijaan S2-opettajat eiv\u00e4t hy\u00f6dynn\u00e4 lainkaan ennakointia, eik\u00e4 tekstin tarkoituksenmukaisuutta arvioida lukemisen j\u00e4lkeen. Selvent\u00e4misen yhteydess\u00e4 korostuvat S2-opettajien vaihtelevat suhtautumiset verkkosanakirjoihin ja k\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4jiin. Lis\u00e4ksi he painottavat vuorovaikutuksen ja keskustelun merkityst\u00e4 lukemisen ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4misess\u00e4. Strategioiden v\u00e4litt\u00e4minen opetukseen ja oppijoille vaihtelee paljon. Osa S2-opettajista painottaa strategioiden merkityst\u00e4, osalla ne j\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4t v\u00e4hemm\u00e4lle ajan puutteen ja opiskelijoiden korkean kielitaidon tason vuoksi. \nLukemisen ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4misen strategioiden painottaminen aineenopettajan opinnoissa ja jatko-koulutuksessa lienee tarpeellista, sill\u00e4 osa S2-opettajista joko ei tied\u00e4 niist\u00e4 tai kokee ne liian abstrakteiksi asioiksi opettaa. Lis\u00e4ksi niiden opettaminen saattaa j\u00e4\u00e4d\u00e4 irralliseksi muusta opetuksesta tai niiden merkityst\u00e4 B\u2013C-tasoilla ei tunnisteta.
