Tutkimuksen painopiste on nimenomaan lasten omilla kokemuksilla ja tutkimus on toteutettu lapsin\u00e4k\u00f6kulmaisesti.\nTutkimukseen osallistui viisi nelj\u00e4sluokkalaista oppilasta keskisuomalaisesta alakoulusta. Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin ryhm\u00e4keskustelulla. Tutkimusasetelma oli samankaltainen kuin Henna-Riikka Peltolan (2017) tutkimuksessa, jossa tutkittiin aikuisten kokemuksia itsem\u00e4\u00e4ritellyst\u00e4 surullisesta musiikista ryhm\u00e4haastattelua menetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en. Tutkimuksen teoreettisena viitekehyksen\u00e4 toimivat musiikillinen emootiotutkimus sosiaaliseen ja psykologiseen konstruktioon nojaavien emootioteorioiden sek\u00e4 4E-emootioteorioiden n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta, kehollinen kognitio sek\u00e4 k\u00e4sitemetaforateoria.\nEnnen haastattelua tutkimuksen osallistujat toimittivat tutkijalle musiikkikappaleen, jota pit\u00e4v\u00e4t itse pelottavana. Haastattelun aikana kuunneltiin jokaisen osallistujan toimittama kappale ja niist\u00e4 keskusteltiin vapaamuotoisesti. Tutkija esitti tarvittaessa tarkentavia kysymyksi\u00e4. Aineiston koodauksessa k\u00e4ytettiin apuna ATLAS.ti-ohjelmistoa. Aineiston analyysimenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin aineistol\u00e4ht\u00f6ist\u00e4 sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysi\u00e4 ja metafora-analyysi\u00e4, eli aineistosta etsittiin tutkittavien k\u00e4ytt\u00e4mi\u00e4 metaforisia kuvauksia sek\u00e4 kehollisia metaforia musiikin her\u00e4tt\u00e4m\u00e4st\u00e4 pelosta.\nMusiikillista pelkoa ei ole juurikaan tutkittu. Musiikin her\u00e4tt\u00e4mi\u00e4 tunteita ylip\u00e4\u00e4t\u00e4\u00e4n on tutkittu lasten n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta vain v\u00e4h\u00e4n. Tutkimuksen tuottamaa uutta tietoa voitaneen jatkossa soveltaa esimerkiksi musiikkikasvatukseen ja musiikin emootiotutkimukseen tai tunnetaitoty\u00f6skentelyyn sek\u00e4 musiikkiterapiakontekstiin. On oletettavissa, ett\u00e4 tutkittavien valitsemasta musiikista l\u00f6ytyy sellaisia piirteit\u00e4, joita on yleisesti pidetty pelottavina tai j\u00e4nnitt\u00e4vin\u00e4, mutta on todenn\u00e4k\u00f6ist\u00e4, ett\u00e4 tuloksiin vaikuttavat jokaisen tutkimuksen osallistujan yksil\u00f6lliset kokemukset sek\u00e4 konteksti.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The aim of this study was to find out how fourth graders recognize fear from music and how they experience music-induced fear in self-identified scary music. The aim was also to know how they express their emotions verbally and with bodily gestures, and what aspects in music, in the individual and in the context effect on their emotions. The study emphasizes the children\u2019s own experiences on the matter and has been carried out from the children\u2019s perspective.\nFive fourth graders from an elementary school in Central Finland participated in the study. The data was collected through a group discussion. The research setup was similar to Henna-Riikka Peltola's (2017) study, which investigated experiences of self-defined sad music using a group interview as a method. The theoretical reference framework of the research is emotion research in music, from the perspective of theory of constructed emotion, 4E emotion theories, embodied cognition, and conceptual metaphor theory.\nBefore the interview, the participants provided the researcher with a piece of music that they themselves find scary. During the interview, a song provided by each participant was listened to and discussed freely. The researcher asked clarifying questions if necessary. The data analysis method used was data-oriented content analysis and metaphor analysis, where researcher aimed to observe metaphorical expressions and embodied gestures considering music-evoked fear. The ATLAS.ti software was used for data coding.\nMusic-evoked fear has been studied previously only a little. Music-evoked emotions overall have not been studied much from the perspective of children, and the new information this research provides could be applied in the future, for example, to music education and music emotion research and working on emotional skills using music, as well as in music therapy context.
