Tutkimusta aiheesta on viime vuosien aikana tehty paljon, mutta keskittyminen niissä kohdistuu usein siihen, miten esimerkiksi kokijoiden ikäryhmä tai työtehtävä vaikuttaa teknostressin syntymiseen. Jotta teknostressin kokemista pystyttäisiin ymmärtämään paremmin, olisi tärkeää, että tutkimuksessa keskityttäisiin lisäksi yksilöiden persoonallisuuden havainnointiin. Tässä tutkielmassa tarkastellaan persoonallisuuden vaikutusta teknostressin kokemiseen hyödyntäen psykologiasta tuttua Big Five -mallia. Tutkielman tavoitteena on luoda kuva siitä, miten mallin viisi eri persoonallisuuden piirrettä vaikuttavat teknostressin sekä kokijan suhteeseen. Tutkielma on toteutettu kirjallisuuskatsauksena tutustumalla eri aineistoihin aiheeseen liittyen. Kirjallisuuskatsauksen tuloksissa huomataan, että ekstroversio sekä tunnollisuus piirteinä vähentävät teknostressin syntymistä ja luovat yksilössä enemmän positiivisia reaktioita teknostressoreihin. Lisäksi voidaan havaita, että sovinnollisuus on lähteiden mukaan piirteistä haitallisin kokijan kannalta, kun taas neuroottisuuden sekä avoimuuden kohdalla tulokset ovat hieman ristiriitaisia ja niiden vaikutukset eivät ole niin selviä yksilön kannalta. Tulosten avulla voidaan todeta, että persoonallisuuden tutkiminen tuo esiin yksilöllisiä eroja tutkittavien välillä ja näiden havaintojen avulla yksilöt sekä organisaatiot voivat kehittää tapoja hallitakseen teknostressin negatiivisia vaikutuksia. The continuous development of technology has created several benefits for end users, such as increased productivity at work, but simultaneously this development has brought some disadvantages, one of which is technostress. Technostress is a phenomenon where the user experiences stress from the use of different information systems and the challenges they cause. A lot of research has been done on the subject in recent years but the focus is often on how, for example, the age group of the individuals or the work task affects the occurrence of technostress. To be able to better understand the experience of technostress, it would be important that the research also focus on observing the personalities of individuals. This thesis examines the influence of personality on the experience of technostress, using the Big Five model known from psychology. The aim of the thesis is to create an image of how the model’s five different personality traits affect the relationship between technostress and the person experiencing it. The thesis has been carried out as a literature review using different sources related to the topic. The results of the review show that extroversion and conscientiousness as traits reduce the occurrence of technostress and create more positive reactions to technostressors in the individual. In addition, it can be observed that, according to the sources, agreeableness is the most harmful of the traits for the individual, while in the case of neuroticism and openness, the results are somewhat contradictory, and their effects are not so clear from the individual’s point of view. With the help of these results, it can be stated that the study of personality brings out individual differences between the subjects, and with the help of these observations, individuals and organizations can develop ways to manage the negative effects of technostress.
