F\u00f6rst utreddes hur v\u00e4l l\u00e4rarna kan definiera begreppet kroppsbild med egna ord, d\u00e4refter hur elevernas kroppsbild tar sig till uttryck i gymnastikundervisningen. Avslutningsvis unders\u00f6ktes gymnastikl\u00e4rarnas uppfattningar om att st\u00f6da elevers positiva kroppsbild i undervisningen, samt med vilka metoder. Att utreda l\u00e4rarnas metoder att st\u00f6da elevernas positiva kroppsbild \u00e4r motiverat inte enbart ur den nationella l\u00e4roplanens synvinkel, utan \u00e4ven med tanke p\u00e5 ungas utmaningar med kroppsbild samt de positiva h\u00e4lsoeffekter en positiv kroppsbild medf\u00f6r.\n\nI studien till\u00e4mpades en kvalitativ ansats. Forskningsmaterialet bestod av sex semistrukturerade individuella intervjuer med finlandssvenska gymnastikl\u00e4rare som undervisar p\u00e5 h\u00f6gstadiet. Intervjuerna varierade i l\u00e4ngd mellan 23\u201340 min. Det transkriberade materialet blev 53 sidor (font Times New Roman, fontstorlek 12, radavst\u00e5nd 1,5) till sin l\u00e4ngd. Materialet analyserades med en materialbaserad kvalitativ inneh\u00e5llsanalys. \n\nI regel kunde l\u00e4rarna definiera begreppet kroppsbild i enlighet med den vetenskapliga definitionen. Elevernas kroppsbild tar sig i gymnastikundervisningen till uttryck i elevernas arbetande, i hur de vill visa kroppen och uttrycksniv\u00e5n varierar enligt inneh\u00e5ll. L\u00e4rarna str\u00e4var till att st\u00f6da elevernas kroppsbild via noggrann organisering och planering av lektionernas inneh\u00e5ll, genom att f\u00f6rse alla elever med upplevelser av kompetens samt via medvetet kroppsbildsfr\u00e4mjande agerande under lektionerna. \n\nResultaten indikerar att genom att organisera undervisning som betonar trygghet och undviker utpekanden, erbjuder upplevelser av kompetens \u00e5t eleverna oavsett f\u00e4rdighetsniv\u00e5, inneh\u00e5ller m\u00e5ngsidiga teman och genom l\u00e4rarens elevk\u00e4nnedom och positiva feedback kan elevernas kroppsbild fr\u00e4mjas. Firstly, the study focused on the teachers\u2019 ability to define the term body image, followed by an investigation into how students\u2019 body image is expressed in P.E. Finally, the study explored P.E. teachers\u2019 perceptions and methods for supporting students\u2019 positive body image in their teaching. To study how teachers can support their students\u2019 positive body image is motivated not only by the national curriculum but also by earlier studies showing challenges with body image in adolescents. A positive body image has also been associated with several positive health outcomes. \n\nA qualitative approach was applied in the study. The research material consisted of six semi-structured individual interviews with secondary school P.E. teachers. The interviews duration varied in length from 23\u201340 minutes. The transcribed material resulted in 53 pages (font Times New Roman, font size 12, line spacing 1.5). The material was analyzed using a material-based qualitative content analysis.\n\nIn general, the teachers were able to define the term body image. Students\u2019 body image was expressed in P.E. lessons in how well they participated during lessons, in their comfortability to show their bodies, and the rate of expression varied with lesson content. The teachers strive to support students\u2019 positive body image through careful organization and planning of lesson content, by giving out experiences of competence to all students, and by displaying body image-supportive behavior. \n\nThe results indicate that students\u2019 body image can be supported through organization of education that emphasizes safety and avoids pointing out students\u2019 bodies. Teachers should also offer feelings of competence regardless of the students\u2019 skill level, plan diverse lesson content and give out positive feedback.
