Kest\u00e4vyysharjoittelua on perinteisesti ohjelmoitu valmentajan, urheilijan itsens\u00e4 tai jonkun muun ulkopuolisen tahon toimesta. Nyky\u00e4\u00e4n rannelaitteissa, jotka mittaavat k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4st\u00e4\u00e4n erilaisia muuttujia on my\u00f6s erilaisia valmennusohjelmia. N\u00e4iden vaikutuksista kest\u00e4vyysominaisuuksien kehittymiseen ei kuitenkaan ole paljoa tutkimusn\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4. Ty\u00f6n tarkoitus on selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 Garmin rannelaitteista l\u00f6ytyv\u00e4n Daily Suggested Workout (DSW)-harjoitusohjelma-algoritmin mukaisen kest\u00e4vyysharjoittelun vaikutuksia kest\u00e4vyysominaisuuksien kehittymiseen.\n\nTutkimus koostui 10 viikon harjoitusinterventiosta, joka suoritettiin juosten sek\u00e4 sit\u00e4 edelt\u00e4neest\u00e4 ja seuranneesta laboratoriomittausk\u00e4ynnist\u00e4, joissa mitattiin kehonkoostumus sek\u00e4 suoritettiin suora maksimaalinen hapenottokyvyn testi juosten. Testist\u00e4 m\u00e4\u00e4ritettiin tutkittavien maksimaalinen hapenottokyky (VO2max), laktaattikynnykset (aerobinen kynnys ja anaerobinen kynnys) sek\u00e4 juoksun taloudellisuus 10 km/h vauhdilla. Tutkimukseen rekrytoitiin 18 tutkittavaa, joista lopullisen otannan kriteerit t\u00e4yttiv\u00e4t 8 tutkittavaa. Tutkittavien 10 viikon harjoitusintervention ohjelmoinnista vastasi Daily Suggested Workout -harjoitusohjelma-algoritmi. DSW ohjeisti eri taustamuuttujien avulla tutkittaville eri intensiteetin kest\u00e4vyysharjoituksia tai lepoa.\n\nTutkittavien maksimaalinen hapenottokyky parani harjoitusintervention my\u00f6t\u00e4 kehonpainoon suhteutettuna (5,3 %, p=0.090) ja absoluuttisena arvona (2,9 %, p=0.096). Aerobinen kynnys parani 3,4 % (p=0.086) ja anaerobinen kynnys parani 6,1 % (p=0.062). Juoksun taloudellisuuden puolestaan havaittiin heikentyneen harjoitusintervention my\u00f6t\u00e4 2,1 % (p=0.100). Muutokset eiv\u00e4t olleet tilastollisesti merkitsevi\u00e4 (p\u22640.05).\n\nDaily Suggested Workout -harjoitusohjelma-algoritmin mukaisen juoksuharjoittelun havaittiin parantavan k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4ns\u00e4 maksimaalista hapenottokyky\u00e4 sek\u00e4 laktaattikynnystasoja. Vaikka tulokset eiv\u00e4t olleetkaan tilastollisesti merkitsevi\u00e4, voivat ne olla tutkittavalle itselleen merkitt\u00e4vi\u00e4 parannuksia kest\u00e4vyyssuorituskyvyss\u00e4. With repeated loads, the body learns to work more efficiently. Endurance training has traditionally been programmed by a coach, the athlete themselves or by someone else. These days, heart rate monitors, which measure several different variables from their user, have different kinds of training program features integrated into their user interface. However, there is little knowledge about how these affect the development of aerobic capacity.\n\nThis study consisted of a 10-week running intervention that included pre- and post -testing. Pre and post testing included measuring body composition as well as performing a maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) test on a treadmill. The treadmill test determined maximal oxygen uptake capacity, lactate thresholds (aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold), and running economy at the speed of 10 km/h. The 10-week training intervention was programmed by the Daily Suggested Workout (DSW) Training feature. DSW used different background variables to guide subjects (n=8) to perform different intensities of endurance exercises or to take rest days.\n\nThe maximum oxygen uptake capacity relative to body weight of subjects improved during the exercise intervention (5.3 %, p=0.090). Also, absolute VO2max values improved (2.9%, p=0.096). The aerobic threshold improved by 3.4% (p=0.086) and the anaerobic threshold improved by 6.1% (p=0.062). Running economy decreased by 2.1% (p=0.100). These changes were not statistically significant (p\u22640.05).\n\nThe endurance training by the DSW feature was found to improve the maximum oxygen uptake capacity and lactate threshold levels of the subjects. The study did not include a proper control group, so it is unclear if these improvements are result of training by DSW feature.
