Tutkimusten mukaan sy\u00f6mish\u00e4iri\u00f6iden ilmaantuvuuden huippu on 16\u201319 vuoden i\u00e4ss\u00e4, joka asettuu juuri lukiolaisten ik\u00e4haarukkaan. Liikunnanopettajat kohtaavat opiskelijan erilaisessa ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6ss\u00e4 muihin opettajiin verrattuna, ja liikuntatunneilla opiskelijoiden vaatetus on yleens\u00e4 kevyempi. T\u00e4st\u00e4 syyst\u00e4 liikunnanopettajilla on oivat mahdollisuudet tunnistaa nuoren sy\u00f6mish\u00e4iri\u00f6 ja ohjata h\u00e4net avun piiriin. Sy\u00f6mish\u00e4iri\u00f6isen opiskelijan tunnistaminen vaatii opettajalta tietoa sy\u00f6mish\u00e4iri\u00f6ist\u00e4 sek\u00e4 niiden tyypillisist\u00e4 oireista. Sairastuneen opiskelijan kohtaaminen puolestaan vaatii opettajalta ennen kaikkea rohkeutta puuttua ja uskallusta ottaa asia puheeksi. Sy\u00f6mish\u00e4iri\u00f6t ovat eritt\u00e4in ajankohtainen aihe, mutta tietoa niiden n\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymisest\u00e4 koulussa on v\u00e4h\u00e4n, mink\u00e4 vuoksi tutkimus tarjoaa t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4 ja uutta informaatiota.\nTutkimusote oli kvalitatiivinen ja tutkimuksen aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin puolistrukturoidulla teemahaastattelulla. Aineisto koostui viidest\u00e4 lukiossa liikuntaa opettavan naisen haastattelusta, jotka kestiv\u00e4t keskim\u00e4\u00e4rin 29 minuuttia (17-39 min). Opettajat olivat i\u00e4lt\u00e4\u00e4n 25\u201362-vuotiaita (i\u00e4n keskiarvo 48 vuotta). Litteroitua aineistoa kertyi yhteens\u00e4 36 sivua. Tutkimuksen kohteena oli lukiossa liikuntaa opettavien opettajien kokemukset, jonka vuoksi analyysimenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 oli laadullinen sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysi ja tutkimusote fenomenologis-hermeneuttinen.\nTutkimus osoitti, ett\u00e4 sy\u00f6mish\u00e4iri\u00f6t voivat n\u00e4ky\u00e4 lukiossa monin eri tavoin, eik\u00e4 niit\u00e4 ole helppoa havaita. Lukiossa opiskelijat voivat valita, milloin he k\u00e4yv\u00e4t liikuntakurssin, joten he voivat v\u00e4ltt\u00e4\u00e4 liikuntakurssille osallistumisen silloin, kun sy\u00f6mish\u00e4iri\u00f6ss\u00e4 on akuutti vaihe. Sy\u00f6mish\u00e4iri\u00f6iden tunnistamista lukiossa vaikeuttaa se, ett\u00e4 yksi kurssi kest\u00e4\u00e4 vain noin seitsem\u00e4n viikon ajan, joten siin\u00e4 ajassa opettajan on vaikea huomata muutoksia opiskelijassa varsinkin, jos opiskelija ei ole ennest\u00e4\u00e4n tuttu. Studies have shown that peak age of onset for eating disorders is between 16 to 19 years which is the age of a high school student. PE teachers encounter students in a different environment compared to other teachers, and students tend to dress more lightly at PE lessons. Therefore, PE teachers are well placed to identify a young person with an eating disorder and refer them for help. Identifying a student with an eating disorder requires teachers to have knowledge of eating disorders and their typical symptoms. Encountering a student with an eating disorder requires, above all, the courage to intervene and the courage to speak up. Eating disorders are a very current topic, but there is little information about their appearing in school, which is why my research provides important and new information.\nThe method used in this research is qualitative and semi-structured interviews was used to collect the material. The study material included five interviews from women teaching physical education in high school. Ages of the interviewees was 25 to 62 and 47 on average and duration of those interviews was 17-39 minutes and 29 minutes on average. The transcribed material accrued 36 pages. The aim of this study was high school teachers\u2019 experiences which is why qualitative content analysis was used and the basis philosophy of science to be hermeneutic phenomenological.\nThe study showed that eating disorders can appear themselves many ways in high school and are not easy to detect. In high school, students can choose when to attend physical education, so they can avoid taking it when they are in the acute phase of an eating disorder. The difficulty in identifying eating disorders in high school is that a single course lasts only about seven weeks, so it is difficult for a teacher to notice changes in a student during that time, especially if the student is previously unfamiliar. Teachers felt that their level of knowledge was sufficient, but they acknowledged that many would benefit from training that would increase knowledge and encourage confrontation.
