T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tutkimusmenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin puolistrukturoitua teemahaastattelua. Tutkimukseen osallistui kahdeksan sosiaalisen median aktiivista k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4\u00e4. Tutkimuksen tulosten mukaan fomo-kuluttamisen m\u00e4\u00e4ritell\u00e4\u00e4n olevan sosiaaliseen paineeseen perustuvaa kuluttamista, jonka avulla pyrit\u00e4\u00e4n v\u00e4ltt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n ulkopuolisuuden tunnetta osallistumalla kulutuskokemukseen, johon muutkin ymp\u00e4rill\u00e4 osallistuvat. Fomo-kuluttamisen ajureiden aktivoituminen riippui kuluttajien ominaisuuksista, ja siit\u00e4 mit\u00e4 he kuluttamisellaan tavoittelevat. Yleisimm\u00e4ksi fomo-kuluttamisen ajuriksi tunnistettiin joukkoon kuulumisen tarve. Tilanteen ja kuluttajan profiilin mukaan fomo-kuluttamisen ajureina toimivat my\u00f6s riippumattomuuden tarve ja ainutlaatuisuuden tarve.
