Tutkielmassa keskitytään BODIPY-yhdisteiden antibakteeristen ominaisuuksien parantamiseen sekä yhdisteiden käyttöön antibiootteja korvaavina aineina. Tutkimusten perusteella yksi lupaava vaihtoehto on fotodynaamiseen terapiaan (PDT) perustuvat antibakteeriset aineet. Tutkielmassa käytettiin alkuperäisen aineiston ja kielen saatavuutta aineiston rajaustekijänä.
