Tutkielmassa tarkasteltiin fyysisen aktiivisuuden merkityst\u00e4 kokonaisvaltaisen hyvinvoinnin perustana sek\u00e4 sit\u00e4, millainen fyysinen aktiivisuus edist\u00e4\u00e4 lukiolaisten hyvinvointia. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimuksessa selvitettiin tekij\u00f6it\u00e4, jotka vaikuttavat fyysisen aktiivisuuden ja hyvinvoinnin toteutumiseen lukiolaisten keskuudessa. \n\nTutkimus oli kvalitatiivinen eli laadullinen tutkimus, jossa on piirteit\u00e4 fenomenologis-hermeneuttisesta tieteenfilosofiasta. Opettajien haastattelut toteutettiin syksyll\u00e4 2022 hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4en puolistrukturoitua haastattelurunkoa ja oppilaiden kokemuksia selvitettiin alkuvuodesta 2023 Webropol-ohjelmalla avoimien kysymyksien avulla. Lopullinen aineisto koostui nelj\u00e4st\u00e4 lukion liikunnanopettajan haastattelusta sek\u00e4 30 lukio-opiskelijan avoimien kysymyksien vastauksista. Aineistot analysoitiin aineistol\u00e4ht\u00f6isell\u00e4 laadullisella sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysill\u00e4. \n\nTutkimus osoitti, ett\u00e4 fyysisell\u00e4 aktiivisuudella on merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4 rooli lukiolaisten uupumuksen ennaltaehk\u00e4isyss\u00e4 ja hyvinvoinnin edist\u00e4misess\u00e4. Fyysinen aktiivisuus edist\u00e4\u00e4 kokonaisvaltaista hyvinvointia ja parantaa jaksamista. Ainoastaan harvoissa tilanteissa fyysinen aktiivisuus koettiin uupumusta lis\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4n\u00e4 tekij\u00e4n\u00e4.\n\nTutkimuksen johtop\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6s on, ett\u00e4 fyysist\u00e4 aktiivisuutta olisi hyv\u00e4 sis\u00e4lty\u00e4 jokaiseen p\u00e4iv\u00e4\u00e4n v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n liikuntasuositusten mukaisen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n verran eli tunti p\u00e4iv\u00e4ss\u00e4. Hy\u00f6dyt eiv\u00e4t varastoidu, joten lukiolaisia tulisi ohjata sis\u00e4ist\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n fyysinen aktiivisuus osaksi heid\u00e4n p\u00e4iv\u00e4rutiinejaan. This thesis examined the importance of physical activity as the basis of comprehensive well-being of high school students, as well as the different forms of physical activity that contributes the well-being of the students. In addition, this study observes the factors that affect the realization of physical activity and well-being of high school students.\n\nThe method used in the research is a qualitative research and it has features of phenomenological-hermeneutic philosophy of science. The material for this research was collected from high school teachers with semi-structured interviews in the fall of 2022. Students\u2019 experiences were examined in January 2023 with Webropol -software using open-ended questions. The study material included four interviews and 30 answers to open-ended questions. The data were analyzed by data-oriented qualitative content analysis. \n\nThis study shows that physical activity plays a significant role in preventing burnout and promoting well-being of high school students. Physical activity promotes the physical and mental well-being and improves the ability of coping. The study shows that only in few situations/cases physical activity can increase the feeling of exhaustion.\n\nThe conclusion of the study is that it is important to include at least the recommended amount of physical activity every day, i.e., an hour a day. The benefits of the physical activity are not stored which is why high school students should be guided to make physical activity as a part of their daily routine.
