Kokeella on merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4 vaikutus oppilaan akateemisiin tulevaisuudenn\u00e4kymiin, ja t\u00e4ten kokeeseen valmistautuminen edellytt\u00e4\u00e4 tietynlaisten taitojen harjoittelua lukio-opiskelussa. Lis\u00e4ksi kokeen painoarvo on viimevuosina noussut uudistuksessa, jonka my\u00f6t\u00e4 suurin osa yliopistojen l\u00e4ht\u00f6paikoista t\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n suoraan ylioppilaskokeen tulosten pohjalta. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa selvitet\u00e4\u00e4n lukion englannin opettajien n\u00e4kemyksi\u00e4 ja kokemuksia siit\u00e4, mit\u00e4 kielitaitoja lukioenglannissa harjoitellaan, miten ylioppilaskoe vaikuttaa opettajiin ja heid\u00e4n opetukseensa, sek\u00e4 mit\u00e4 vaikutuksia kokeella on opettajien mielest\u00e4 oppilaisiin. Tutkimusaineisto ker\u00e4ttiin puolistrukturoituja haastatteluja k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en. Haastateltavana olivat kaksi englanninopettajaa, joista molemmat omasivat noin 30 vuoden kokemuksen lukio-opetuksesta. Haastattelut olivat 21 ja 33 minuuttia pitki\u00e4. Osallistujilta kysyttiin kysymyksi\u00e4 nelj\u00e4\u00e4n teemaan liittyen: 1) heid\u00e4n opettajataustastansa, 2) eri kielitaitojen (lukeminen, kirjoittaminen, kuuntelu ja puhuminen) opetuksesta lukiossa, 3) ylioppilaskokeen vaikutuksesta heihin ja heid\u00e4n opetukseensa, sek\u00e4 4) ylioppilaskokeen vaikutuksesta heid\u00e4n oppilaisiinsa. Pienest\u00e4 osallistujam\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4st\u00e4 johtuen tutkimuksen tulokset eiv\u00e4t ole yleistett\u00e4viss\u00e4, mutta molemmilla osallistujilla oli kattava kokemus sek\u00e4 lukio-opetuksesta ett\u00e4 englannin ja/tai pedagogiikan tutkimuksesta. Tutkimustuloksista ilmenee ensimm\u00e4isen\u00e4, ett\u00e4 lukeminen ja kuuntelu saavat enemm\u00e4n huomiota lukio-opetuksessa verrattuna kirjoittamiseen ja puhumiseen. P\u00e4\u00e4llimm\u00e4isin\u00e4 selityksin\u00e4 t\u00e4lle on, ett\u00e4 produktiivisia taitoja on ty\u00f6l\u00e4st\u00e4 arvioida reseptiivisiin taitoihin verrattuna, ett\u00e4 suullisia taitoja ei t\u00e4ll\u00e4 hetkell\u00e4 testata ylioppilaskokeessa, ja ett\u00e4 oppilaat lukevat ja kuulevat englantia paljon vapaa-ajallaan. Toisena havaintona aineistosta tehtiin se, ett\u00e4 opettajat l\u00e4ht\u00f6kohtaisesti opettavat englantia el\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4 eiv\u00e4tk\u00e4 koetta varten, mutta toisen vuoden opiskelijoista l\u00e4htien alkavat tuomaan esille ylioppilaskoetta ja siin\u00e4 vaadittavia koeominaisia taitoja sek\u00e4 strategioita, osittain oppilaiden oman halukkuuden takia. Opettajien mukaan oppilaat sen sijaan kokevat ylioppilaskokeen joskus vahvastikin ahdistavana ja stressaavana. Opettajat kuitenkin n\u00e4kev\u00e4t ylioppilaskokeessa vaadittavien taitojen menev\u00e4n paljolti p\u00e4\u00e4llekk\u00e4in tosiel\u00e4m\u00e4ss\u00e4 vaadittavien taitojen kanssa.
