Yksi viimeisimmist\u00e4 teknologioista, mit\u00e4 videopelit ovat hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4neet on virtuaalitodellisuus. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkielmassa k\u00e4yd\u00e4\u00e4n l\u00e4pi virtuaalitodellisuusteknologia, videopelit ja niiden kehitys nykyhetkeen sek\u00e4 tarkastellaan, miten videopeleiss\u00e4 on k\u00e4ytetty virtuaalitodellisuutta ja miten sit\u00e4 on videopeleiss\u00e4 hy\u00f6dynnetty. Tutkimusmenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 on k\u00e4ytetty kirjallisuuskatsausta ja l\u00e4htein\u00e4 k\u00e4ytetty aiheen kannalta oleellisia tutkimusartikkeleita. Erityisesti tutkimuksessa on tarkasteltu artikkeleita, mitk\u00e4 k\u00e4sitteliv\u00e4t virtuaalitodellisuutta ja videopelej\u00e4. Tutkimuksen tuloksissa havaittiin, ett\u00e4 virtuaalitodellisuusteknologian k\u00e4ytt\u00e4misess\u00e4 videopeleiss\u00e4 on otettava huomioon eri k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4kokemus. Asiat, mitk\u00e4 toimivat perinteisiss\u00e4 videopeleiss\u00e4, eiv\u00e4t v\u00e4ltt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00e4 k\u00e4\u00e4nny hyvin virtuaalitodellisuuspeleihin sellaisinaan. Suurin hy\u00f6ty, mit\u00e4 tutkimusten mukaan virtuaalitodellisuusteknologia tuo videopeleihin, on immersio ja vahva l\u00e4sn\u00e4olon tunne pelaajalle. One of the latest technologies that video games have utilized is virtual reality. This thesis goes through virtual reality technology, video games and their evolution. In addition, this study goes through how virtual reality has been used and utilized in video games with the aim to make them better for the user. Method used in this thesis is literature review and sources used were research articles that were essential in terms of the topic and specifically articles that dealt with virtual reality and video games. This thesis\u2019 conclusion was that it is crucial to consider the user experience when virtual reality technology is been implemented to video games. Things that work in traditional video games don\u2019t necessarily convert well to virtual reality games as they are. The biggest benefit that virtual reality technology brings to video games is immersion and a strong sense of presence to the player according to the studies. Even though virtual reality technology has already been used in video games, it hasn\u2019t yet reached its full potential.
