Tutkielmassa käytettiin konstruktiivista tutkimusmetodia artefaktin eli prototyypin kehittämiseen. Suoritettujen tutkimusten perusteella magnetometrin ja kiihtyvyysanturin avulla voidaan mitata huomattavalla tarkkuudella kyykyn sekä penkkipunneruksen liikeratoja. Liikeradoista on myös kerätyn informaation avulla mahdollista havaita virheliikkuvuuksia. Optimaalisiksi sensorien sijainneiksi osoittautui penkkipunnerruksessa tankojen päädyt ja kyykyssä alaselkä. Tutkielmassa pohdittiin myös kerätyn informaation anonyymisyyttä, sekä sitä miten tämä olisi mahdollista suorittaa. Yksinkertaisella suodatuksella, jossa poistetaan kerätystä datasta aloitus ja lopetus kohdat, voidaan poistaa suuri määrä suorittajasta identifioivaa tietoa. BLE-protokolla osoittautuu hyväksi kommunikaatio vaihtoehdoksi toteutetulle artefaktille. In this Master's thesis, it was investigated whether it is possible to monitor and measure the trajectories of powerlifting movements during performance. For the monitoring we used Movesense sensors, which were equipped with accelometer, gyroscope and magnetometer sensors. In this thesis we focused on squat and bench press movements. The used sensors communicated with a mobile phone with a wireless BLE-protocol. Design science research method was used in assistance with this thesis to perform a reliable study. According to the experiments performed in this thesis, we discovered that magnetometer and accelometer suits perfectly for the monitoring of a powerlifting movement, with an excellent accuracy and the ability to see any error in the trajectory of the movement. It was discovered that the optimal placement of the sensor in bench press was the ends of the bar. In squat the optimal placement was at the lower back of the performer. In this study we also explored the issue of data anonymity related to the information gathered. The majority of a identifiable data is possible to destroy with a simple filter to remove the actions before and after the movement. The BLE-protocol proved to be a worthy choice for the wireles communication.
