Kortikokinemaattisen koherenssin (CKC) avulla voidaan laskea \u00e4\u00e4reishermostolta l\u00e4htev\u00e4n proprioseptiivisen signaalin ja keskushermoston vasteen v\u00e4list\u00e4 koherenssia. CKC kuvaa kortikaalisen vasteen voimakkuutta proprioseptiiviselle signaalille. N\u00e4ytt\u00e4isi silt\u00e4, ett\u00e4 proprioseptiivisen informaation k\u00e4sittely olisi lateralisoitunut oikealle aivopuoliskolle. Tarkoittaen sit\u00e4, ett\u00e4 kyseist\u00e4 informaatiota prosessoidaan enemm\u00e4n oikealla aivopuoliskolla verrattuna vasempaan aivopuoliskoon.\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, havaitaanko pneumaattisen stimulaattorin avulla tapahtuvan etusormien jatkuvan liikkeen CKC:n kortikaalista lateralisoitumista prim\u00e4\u00e4reill\u00e4 sensorimotorisilla alueilla (SM1). Lis\u00e4ksi tarkasteltiin etusormien CKC:n voimakkuuden ja sen lateralisoitumisen yhteytt\u00e4 molempien k\u00e4sien n\u00e4pp\u00e4ryytt\u00e4 mittaavan Grooved Pegboard testin aikaan. \nYhteens\u00e4 31 oikeak\u00e4tisen koehenkil\u00f6n tulokset analysoitiin lopullisessa tarkastelussa. Analyysit suoritettiin koko otoksen tasolla ja aikaisempien havaintojen mukaisesti my\u00f6s ik\u00e4ryhmiss\u00e4. Ik\u00e4ryhm\u00e4t jaettiin otoksen mediaanin mukaan nuoriin (alle 35-vuotiaat, n = 16) ja varttuneisiin (yli 35-vuotiaat, n = 15). Neuraalinen aktiivisuus mitattiin magnetoenkefalografian avulla ja sormien passiivinen liikutus suoritettiin pneumaattisilla stimulaattoreilla. Sormien passiivisen liikkeen ja neuraalisen aktiivisuuden v\u00e4lille laskettiin CKC:n voimakkuus liiketaajuudella (F0) ja sen ensimm\u00e4isell\u00e4 harmonisella taajuudella (F1).\nCKC F0-taajuuden lateralisoituminen oli yhteydess\u00e4 k\u00e4sien n\u00e4pp\u00e4ryyteen (r = -0.409, p < 0.05). CKC:n F0-taajuuden lateralisoituminen oikealle hemisf\u00e4\u00e4rille ennusti parempaa k\u00e4sien n\u00e4pp\u00e4ryytt\u00e4 (\u03b2 = -22.70, p < 0.01). Oikean sormen ja vasemman hemisf\u00e4\u00e4rin SM1 alueen CKC F0-taajuuden voimakkuus oli yhteydess\u00e4 heikompaan k\u00e4sien n\u00e4pp\u00e4ryyteen (0.459, p < 0.01). Koko otoksen kohdalla CKC:n voimakkuuden lateralisoituminen ei ollut tilastollisesti merkitsev\u00e4\u00e4, vaikka yksil\u00f6iden kohdalla havaittiin CKC:n voimakkuuden lateralisoitumista. Nuorten ryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4 havaittiin merkitsev\u00e4sti voimakkaampi CKC F1-taajuudella vasemman hemisf\u00e4\u00e4rin SM1 alueella. Nuorilla CKC F1-taajuuden lateralisaatio oli yhteydess\u00e4 k\u00e4den n\u00e4pp\u00e4ryyteen (r = -0.629, p < 0.05). Corticokinematic coherence (CKC) can be used to calculate coherence between activated proprioception and cortical areas. CKC describes the strength of the cortical response to repetitive activated proprioceptors. Proprioceptive signals seem to be processed a bit more dominantly in the right hemisphere. \nThe purpose of this study was to find out if we see lateralization between the primary sensorimotor areas (SM1) of the index fingers\u2019 CKC. Second question: do we have a relationship between possible lateralization and motor performance of the hands? \nIn total 31 right-handed participants were recorded. Pneumatic artificial muscle was used to move passively both index fingers at the same time and neural activity was recorded with magnetoencephalography. Motor performance was measured as the total time of both hands in the Grooved Pegboard -test. Data analyses were done for all participants and within age groups. Age groups were categorized by the median age of the whole population to \u201cyoung adults\u201d (under 35 years) and \u201cgrown adults\u201d (over 35 years). CKC was calculated on the movement frequency (F0) and its first harmonic (F1).\nLateralization of the CKC at F0-frequency has a relationship with the motor performance of the hands (r = -0.409, p < 0.05). Lateralization of the CKC at F0-frequency predicted better motor performance (\u03b2 = -22.70, p < 0.01). Also, higher CKC at F0-frequency in the left SM1 had a relationship with the poorer motor performance of the hands (0.459, p < 0.01). The left hemisphere had significantly (p < 0.05) higher CKC at F1-frequency in the \u201cyoung-adult\u201d group. Lateralization of the CKC at F1-frequency had a relationship with motor performance of the hands (r = -0.629, p < 0.05).
