Ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6ille et\u00e4ty\u00f6 asettaa uudenlaisia haasteita, mutta antaa my\u00f6s mahdollisuuksia, jotka ty\u00f6nantajankin on hy\u00f6dyllist\u00e4 tiedostaa. IT-alalla projektity\u00f6t\u00e4 tekevien tiimit on mahdollista hajauttaa globaalisti ja projektitiimin j\u00e4senet eiv\u00e4t v\u00e4ltt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00e4 tapaa kasvokkain ollenkaan. T\u00e4m\u00e4 pro gradu -tutkielma pyrkii selvitt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n, millaisia vaikutuksia et\u00e4ty\u00f6ll\u00e4 on ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6iden sitoutumiseen IT-projekteihin. Tutkielma koostuu kirjallisuuskatsauksesta ja empiirisest\u00e4 osiosta, jota varten haastateltiin IT-alan ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6it\u00e4. Tutkimuksen tulokset saatiin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 analysointimenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 teemoittelua. Tutkielman tuloksena voidaan todeta, ett\u00e4 et\u00e4ty\u00f6 vaikuttaa etenkin kommunikointiin ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6iden v\u00e4lill\u00e4 IT-projekteissa. Kommunikaation tiheys ja vapaamuotoisuus v\u00e4heniv\u00e4t, ja kommunikaation kynnys kasvoi. Et\u00e4ty\u00f6 p\u00e4\u00e4osin lis\u00e4si oma-aloitteisuutta ja sen ei koettu est\u00e4v\u00e4n mink\u00e4\u00e4n projektin suorittamista. The COVID-19 pandemic has further accelerated the transition from office to remote work. From the employees\u2019 perspective remote work poses novel challenges but also provides new opportunities that ought to be recognized by the employers as well. In the field of IT, it is now possible to globally distribute project teams conceivably resulting in team members never meeting face to face. This master\u2019s thesis aims to examine the effect that remote work has on worker commitment in IT-projects. The research consists of a literature review and an empirical study, which was conducted by interviewing IT-professionals. The results of the study were derived by using thematic analysis. Based on the results of this research, remote work especially affects communication between employers in IT-projects. The frequency and informality of communication decreased and the threshold to communicate increased. All things considered, remote work makes workers take more initiative and remote work was not considered an impediment to any project. Remote work and especially the hybrid model of working are both promoting job satisfaction. However, remote work can make the employee organization feel more distant to the worker as well as make it harder to network between colleagues. The effects of remote work on productivity or concentration were somewhat contradictory, but on the whole, the effect of remote work on productivity seemed to be positive. These effects were dependent on how many distractions there are in the home of a worker, for example.
