Kiinnostuksen kohteena oli, miten opettajat toteuttavat oppilaiden jakamisen pienryhmiin ja miten oppilaat reagoivat n\u00e4ihin eri tapoihin. Tutkimuksen aineisto koostui 25 oppitunnin videomateriaalista, joka ker\u00e4ttiin kolmessa avoimen oppimisymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n alakoulussa vuosina 2017\u20132021. Tutkimuksen osallistujina olivat kymmenen luokan oppilaat (n = 299) ja heid\u00e4n kanssaan ty\u00f6skentelev\u00e4t opettajat (n = 24) ja koulunk\u00e4ynninohjaajat (n = 6). Aineisto analysoitiin keskustelunanalyysin menetelm\u00e4ll\u00e4. Aineistosta l\u00f6ydettiin nelj\u00e4 tapaa, joilla opettajat jakoivat oppilaat pienryhmiin: opettaja nojautui etuk\u00e4teen p\u00e4\u00e4tt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4ns\u00e4 ryhm\u00e4jakoon, opettaja jakoi oppilaat spontaanisti ryhmiin, opettaja kehotti oppilaita muodostamaan ryhm\u00e4t tai opettaja salli yhteisty\u00f6n itsen\u00e4isi\u00e4 teht\u00e4vi\u00e4 teht\u00e4ess\u00e4. Oppilaat reagoivat erilaisiin ryhm\u00e4nmuodostustapoihin suuntautumalla teht\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4n, ilmaisemalla my\u00f6nteisi\u00e4 tai kielteisi\u00e4 tunteitaan, pyrkim\u00e4ll\u00e4 turvaamaan oman sosiaalisen asemansa, huolehtimalla vertaisen ryhm\u00e4\u00e4n p\u00e4\u00e4syst\u00e4 sek\u00e4 p\u00e4\u00e4tym\u00e4ll\u00e4 ty\u00f6skentelem\u00e4\u00e4n yksin joko tietoisena valintana tai tahtomattaan. Tutkimuksen perusteella siirtym\u00e4t pienryhm\u00e4ty\u00f6skentelyyn olivat vuorovaikutustilanteena kaikkein sujuvimpia ja sosiaalisesti vakaimpia, kun opettajat nojautuivat aikaisemmin suunnittelemaansa ryhm\u00e4jakoon. The data consists of 25 video recorded lessons from three different Finnish primary schools with an open learning environment. The participants in the study are the pupils (n = 299) from 10 different classes as well as the teachers (n = 24) and the classroom assistants (n = 6) working with them. The data is analyzed with conversation analysis. Four different ways of dividing pupils into small groups were found: teachers plan the groups before a lesson, divide the groups spontaneously during a lesson, let pupils decide the groups, or allow pupils to cooperate during independent tasks. Pupils responded in five different manners: they were task-oriented, reacted with positive or negative emotions, secured their own social position, took care of a peer\u2019s group membership, or ended up working alone through conscious decision or unwillingly. According to the study transitions to small group work are the smoothest and socially the most stable when a teacher plans the group composition beforehand.
