Kriittisist\u00e4 raaka-aineista keskityt\u00e4\u00e4n tarkemmin platinaryhm\u00e4n metalleihin, ja niist\u00e4 erityisesti palladiumiin ja platinaan niiden ominaisuuksineen ja k\u00e4ytt\u00f6kohteineen. Tutkielmassa k\u00e4sitell\u00e4\u00e4n erilaisia jalometallien liuotukseen soveltuvia menetelmi\u00e4, ja liuotuksen j\u00e4lkeisen\u00e4 erotusprosessina muun muassa vedenpuhdistuksessa ja metallien talteenotossa laajalti hy\u00f6dynnetty\u00e4 ioninvaihtoa. Tutkielmassa tutustutaan erilaisiin ioninvaihtomateriaaleihin, niiden rakenteisiin, ominaisuuksiin ja toimintaperiaatteisiin, sek\u00e4 itse ioninvaihtoprosessiin. Viel\u00e4 tarkempaan k\u00e4sittelyyn otetaan selektiiviset polymeeri-, silika- ja kuitupohjaiset ioninvaihtomateriaalit, eli metallisiepparit. N\u00e4iden lis\u00e4ksi esitell\u00e4\u00e4n 3D-tulostetut metallisiepparit, sek\u00e4 esimerkkej\u00e4 niille l\u00f6ydetyist\u00e4 sovelluskohteista metallien talteenotossa. \nTutkielman kokeellisessa osassa m\u00e4\u00e4ritettiin kahdelle ioninvaihtohartsille, Dowex\u00ae 21K Cl- ja Lewatit\u00ae MonoPlus M 500, optimaaliset palladiumin talteenotto-olosuhteet. Molemmilla materiaaleilla parhaat tulokset saatiin 0,05 M HCl + HNO3 -taustalla. Todettiin my\u00f6s, ett\u00e4 palladiumia alkaa saostua pH:n kasvaessa arvoon 1. Hartseista Lewatit\u00ae MonoPlus M 500:lla saavutettiin nopeammin yli 90 % saanto. T\u00e4m\u00e4n granulamuotoisen Lewatit\u00ae-hartsin ja 3D-tulostettujen metallisieppareiden talteenottotehokkuutta ja kinetiikkaa vertailtiin. Kinetiikan vaikutusta tutkittiin lataamalla granulaa ja 3D-sieppareita vaihtumilla 50, 150 ja 300 h-1. 3D-sieppareilla saatiin systemaattisesti parempia tuloksia kuin granulalla, sill\u00e4 3D-sieppareilla saavutettiin jopa kvantitatiivinen talteenotto kaikilla tutkituilla vaihtumilla. Granulalla saavutettu paras talteenottoaste oli 90 %, joka saavutettiin vaihtumalla 50 h-1 vain hetkellisesti. Lis\u00e4ksi granulalla talteenotto heikkeni huomattavasti, kun vaihtumaa kasvatettiin. Latauskapasiteetiksi 3D-metallisieppareille m\u00e4\u00e4ritettiin vaihtumasta riippuen 0,91\u20130,97 eq L-1 ja granulalle arvoksi saatiin 0,82 eq L-1, joten my\u00f6s kapasiteetista voitiin havaita 3D-sieppareiden tehokkuus granulaan verrattuna. Eluoinnin tehokkuutta vertailtiin materiaalien v\u00e4lill\u00e4, ja eluentin NH4Cl-pitoisuus pyrittiin optimoimaan.
