Lis\u00e4ksi tutkittiin 3.- ja 5.-luokkalaisten fyysisen \naktiivisuuden ja -inaktiivisuuden sek\u00e4 koulumotivaation tasoa.\nTutkimuksen kohteena oli h\u00e4meenlinnalaisen koulun 3.- ja 5.-luokan oppilaat. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 koulussa \nsuoritettiin CHIPASE-projektiin liittyv\u00e4 tutkimus, jonka aineistoa tutkimukseni hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4. \nProjektin osa, jota tutkimukseni hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 toteutettiin syksyll\u00e4 2015 mittaamalla oppilaiden \nfyysist\u00e4 aktiivisuutta viikon ajan vy\u00f6t\u00e4r\u00f6lle sijoitettavalla kiihtyvyysmittarilla sek\u00e4 \ntoteuttamalla koulumotivaatiota, koettua p\u00e4tevyytt\u00e4 ja koettua sosiaalista tukea mittaavat \nkyselyt. Akateemista p\u00e4tevyytt\u00e4 mitattiin lukutaitoa ja matemaattisia taitoja mittaavilla testeill\u00e4. \nKohdejoukoksi lopulliseen aineistoon valikoitui yhteens\u00e4 55 oppilasta. Oppilaat valikoituivat \nmukaan sill\u00e4 perusteella, ett\u00e4 he olivat tehneet kaikki yll\u00e4 mainitut testit ja mittaukset.\nAnalysointimenetelmin\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin Pearsonin korrelaatiokerrointa, kun selvitettiin fyysisen \naktiivisuuden yhteytt\u00e4 akateemiseen suoriutumiseen, koulumotivaatioon, koettuun p\u00e4tevyyteen \nkoulussa sek\u00e4 koettuun sosiaaliseen tukeen. Fyysisen aktiivisuuden ja koulumotivaation tasoa \nkuvailtiin keskiarvoilla ja keskihajonnoilla. Enemm\u00e4n ja v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n liikkuvien ryhmien v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 \neroja tarkasteltiin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 riippumattomien otosten t-testi\u00e4.\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen perusteella ei voida tehd\u00e4 suuria johtop\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6ksi\u00e4 fyysisen aktiivisuuden \nyhteyksist\u00e4 oppimiseen ja kouluty\u00f6skentelyyn, vaikka aiemmat tutkimukset tukevat v\u00e4itett\u00e4 \nfyysisen aktiivisuuden kouluty\u00f6skentely\u00e4 edist\u00e4v\u00e4st\u00e4 vaikutuksesta, koska t\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen \nmukaan fyysisell\u00e4 aktiivisuudella ei ollut yhteytt\u00e4 oppilaiden akateemiseen suoriutumiseen, \nkoulumotivaatioon, koettuun p\u00e4tevyyteen koulussa tai koettuun sosiaaliseen tukeen. In addition, the levels of physical activity and school motivation of \n3rd and 5th graders were examined.\nThe subjects of the study were 3rd and 5th grade pupils in a school in H\u00e4meenlinna, Finland. \nThis school was the subject of a study related to CHIPASE project, from where the data that I \nuse in this study is from. The part of the project that this research use was carried out in autumn \n2015 by measuring the physical activity of the pupils for a week with an accelerometer placed \non their waist and by carrying out questionaires measuring school motivation, perceived \ncompetence and perceived social support. Academic competence was measured by test of \nreading and mathematical skills. A total of 55 pupils were selected as the target population for \nthe final data set. The pupils were selected on the basis that they had taken all the test and \nmeasurements mentioned above. Pearson\u2019s correlation coefficent was used as a method of \nanalysis to examine the relationship between physical activity and academic performance, \nschool motivation, perceived competence and perceived social support. Levels of physical \nactivity and school motivation were described by means and standard deviations. Differences \nbetween more and less active groups were examined using independent samples t-test.\nPhysical activity was not associated with academic performance, school motivation, perceived \ncompetence or perceived social support. Similarly, when students were classified into less and \nmore physical active categories, no statistically significant differences were found when group \nmeans were examined using independent samples t-test.
