Fyysisell\u00e4 aktiivisuudella voidaan v\u00e4hent\u00e4\u00e4 \nmielenterveyden sek\u00e4 tuki- ja liikuntaelimist\u00f6n oireita, parantaa kardiometabolista \nterveytt\u00e4 sek\u00e4 energiatasoa. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 sedentaaristen\n(7,0\u201316,65 t/vrk:ssa) korkeakouluopiskelijoiden fyysist\u00e4 aktiivisuutta ja istumism\u00e4\u00e4rien \nyhteytt\u00e4 liikkumism\u00e4\u00e4riin. Lis\u00e4ksi selvitettiin, onko liikkumism\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4tuloksissa eroja \nsukupuolten ja korkeakoulusektorien (AMK/YO) v\u00e4lill\u00e4.\n\nTutkimuksen aineisto koostui Korkeakouluopiskelijoiden terveys- ja \nterveysk\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymistutkimuksen vuoden 2016 osa-aineistosta. Mukana olivat ne \nopiskelijat (n = 2 246), jotka ilmoittivat istuvansa v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n 7 tuntia vuorokaudessa.\nNukkumisaikaa ei laskettu mukaan istumisajaksi. Tutkimusaineisto analysoitiin SPSS \ntilasto-ohjelmalla khii toiseen neli\u00f6testeill\u00e4 ja Cramerin V:ll\u00e4.\n\nSedentaaristen opiskelijoiden mediaani-istumisaika vaihteli 10,5 tunnista 11 tuntiin\nvuorokaudessa. Vaikka valtaosa opiskelijoista hy\u00f6tyliikkui 15\u201360 min/vrk:ssa, niin \nmelkein kymmenesosa hy\u00f6tyliikkui alle vartin p\u00e4iv\u00e4ss\u00e4, kun taas reilu kymmenes \nhy\u00f6tyliikkui p\u00e4ivitt\u00e4in yli tunnin. Pidempikestoinen hy\u00f6tyliikkuminen oli naisilla (> 30 \nmin/vrk:ssa) miehi\u00e4 yleisemp\u00e4\u00e4 ja AMK-opiskelijoilla (> 60 min/vrk:ssa) YO-opiskelijoita \nyleisemp\u00e4\u00e4. Reilu puolet opiskelijoista harrasti \u2265 30 min/krt kohtuukuormitteista \nkuntoliikuntaa 2\u20136 krt/vk:ssa. Reilu kymmenesosa ei harrastanut kuntoliikuntaa lainkaan \ntai hyvin harvoin. Vain harva kuntoliikkui p\u00e4ivitt\u00e4in. Sukupuolten ja korkeakoulusektorien \nv\u00e4lill\u00e4 ei havaittu tilastollisesti merkitsevi\u00e4 eroja kuntoliikunnassa. Opiskelijoiden hy\u00f6ty- ja kuntoliikunta yhdistettiin kolmiluokkaiseksi kokonaisliikkumiseksi. Reilu nelj\u00e4sosa \nliikkui v\u00e4h\u00e4n ja harvoin eli hy\u00f6tyliikkuivat < 30 min/vrk:ssa ja kuntoliikkuivat harvoin tai \nei lainkaan. Vajaa kolmannes liikkui paljon ja usein eli hy\u00f6tyliikkuivat p\u00e4ivitt\u00e4in > 30 min \nja kuntoliikkuivat \u2265 2 krt/vk. Vajaa puolet liikkui jonkin verran eli sijoittuivat \nliikkumism\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4lt\u00e4\u00e4n kahden edellisen v\u00e4lille. Miehet olivat todenn\u00e4k\u00f6isemmin v\u00e4h\u00e4n ja \nharvoin liikkuvia ja naiset paljon ja usein liikkuvia. Korkeakoulusektorien v\u00e4lill\u00e4 eroa oli \nvain jonkin verran liikkuvissa, jossa YO-opiskelijoiden liikkuminen oli AMK-opiskelijoita \nyleisemp\u00e4\u00e4. Kun istumism\u00e4\u00e4ri\u00e4 tarkasteltiin suhteessa kokonaisliikkumiseen, havaittiin \nalle mediaanin istuvien joukossa paljon ja usein liikkumisen olevan yleisemp\u00e4\u00e4, kun taas \nmediaanin tai yli istuvien joukossa v\u00e4h\u00e4n ja harvoin liikkuminen oli yleisint\u00e4. Molemmissa \nryhmiss\u00e4 jonkin verran liikkuminen oli toisiksi yleisint\u00e4.\n\nSedentaaristen opiskelijoiden fyysisess\u00e4 aktiivisuudessa havaittiin eroja. Huolestuttavinta \non, ett\u00e4 v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n joka nelj\u00e4s korkeakouluopiskelija istui paljon (> 7 t/vrk:ssa) ja liikkui\nvain v\u00e4h\u00e4n ja harvakseltaan, mit\u00e4 voidaan pit\u00e4\u00e4 terveyden kannalta haitallisena. \nKorkeakouluopiskelijoiden sedentaarisuutta pit\u00e4isi v\u00e4hent\u00e4\u00e4 sis\u00e4llytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 liikkuminen ja \nistumisen tauottaminen osaksi oppilaitosten opetussuunnitelmia ja kursseja sek\u00e4 \ntarjoamalla liikkumista tukevia opiskeluymp\u00e4rist\u00f6j\u00e4.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "Students of institutes of higher education sit approximately over 7 hours per day which is \nharmful to the health. It is possible to reduce mental health and musculoskeletal symptoms \nas well as to improve cardio metabolic health and energy level by being physically active. \nThe aim of this study was to research physical activity of sedentary (sitting 7\u201316,65 \nhours/day) students of institutes of higher education and find out if there were any \ndifferences between sex or institutes of higher education. In addition, the connection \nbetween the number of sedentary hours and the amount of physical activity was examined.\n\nData was part of The University Student Health Survey 2016 in Finland. Students (n = \n2246) sitting minimum 7 hours a day were selected for this study. Sleeping time was not \nincluded in sedentary time. Study was analyzed using SPSS statistical software and\nselected tests were Chi-square tests and Cramer\u2019s V.\n\nThe median sitting time of students was from 10,5 to 11 hours per day. Although most of \nthe students had incidental exercise 15\u201360 minutes per day almost tenth had incidental \nexercise less than 15 min/day and over a tenth more than an hour per day. Women had \nmore likely long-lasting incidental exercise than men as well as students of universities of \napplied sciences compared to university students. Over half of the students had at least 30 \nmin moderate-intensity exercise during leisure time 2\u20136 times per week. Over tenth of the \nstudents had no regular moderate-intensity exercise lasting at least 30 min during leisure \ntime. Only few had daily moderate-intensity exercise. Leisure time moderate-intensity \nexercise did not have statistically significant difference between institutes of higher \neducation. Incidental exercise and leisure time moderate-intensity exercise was combined \nas a total exercise. Over fourth exercised a little (< 30 min/day incidental exercise) and \nseldom (moderate-intensity exercise < 2 times/week). A third exercised a lot (> 30 min/day \nincidental exercise) and often (moderate-intensity exercise \u2265 2 times/week). Almost a half \nof students exercised somewhat, between the amount described. Men were more likely to \nexercise little and seldom and women were more likely to exercise a lot and often. \nUniversity students were more likely to exercise somewhat compared to students of \nuniversity of applied sciences. Students sitting less than median were more likely to \nexercise a lot and often. Students sitting the median or over were more likely to exercise a \nlittle and seldom. Somewhat exercising was second likely in both groups.\n\nThere were differences between the amounts of physical activity of sedentary students. The \nmost alarming result was that every fourth student of higher education sat a lot (> 7 \nhours/day) and exercised seldom small amounts which is harmful for the health.
