Hiilidioksidia (CO2) otetaan nykyp\u00e4iv\u00e4n\u00e4 runsaasti talteen erilaisista pistel\u00e4hteist\u00e4, kuten esimerkiksi suurista tehtaista ja energiantuotantolaitoksista, mutta t\u00e4m\u00e4 ei yksin\u00e4\u00e4n riit\u00e4 laskemaan jo kohonnutta ilmakeh\u00e4n CO2-pitoisuutta riitt\u00e4v\u00e4sti, vaan sen lis\u00e4ksi tarvitaan my\u00f6s hiilidioksidin suoraa talteenottoa ilmasta (Direct air capture, DAC). Talteen otetusta CO2:sta on mahdollista valmistaa polttoaineita, kuten esimerkiksi metanolia, tai se voidaan s\u00e4il\u00f6\u00e4 syv\u00e4lle maanalaisiin varastoihin tai meren pohjaan. Yksi potentiaalisista DAC-olosuhteissa teht\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4n talteenottoon k\u00e4ytett\u00e4vist\u00e4 sorbenttivaihtoehdoista ovat metalliorgaaniset verkkorakenteet (Metal-organic framework, MOF).\n\nMOF:it ovat nimens\u00e4 mukaisesti metalli-ioneista tai klustereista sek\u00e4 niit\u00e4 yhdist\u00e4vist\u00e4 orgaanisista ligandeista koostuvia verkkorakenteita, joilla on usein mielenkiintoisia ominaisuuksia kuten suuri huokoisuus ja ominaispinta-ala. Lis\u00e4ksi niiden sis\u00e4lt\u00e4m\u00e4t ligandit ovat usein muokattavissa postsynteettisesti orgaanisen kemian keinoin. MOF:ien valmistukseen k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n tyypillisesti paljon energiaa vaativia solvotermisi\u00e4 reaktioita, mutta nyky\u00e4\u00e4n on kehitetty my\u00f6s vaihtoehtoisia synteesimenetelmi\u00e4, joilla synteesin energiatehokkuutta voidaan parantaa. Lis\u00e4ksi uusilla menetelmill\u00e4 on mahdollista valmistaa MOF:eja ilman ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6lle haitallisia orgaanisia liuottimia. MOF:it ovat usein jauhemaisia, joten teollisen mittakaavan k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4 varten niist\u00e4 tulee valmistaa suurempia kappaleita, kuten esimerkiksi kalvoja tai pellettej\u00e4.\n\nTutkielman kokeellisessa osassa valmistettiin uusia kirjallisuudesta l\u00f6ytyneeseen 4,4'-(4-amino-4H-1,2,4-triatsoli-3,5-diyyli)dibentsoehappoon (dbatH2) pohjautuvia MOF-rakenteita, joiden rakennetta ja CO2-adsorptio-ominaisuuksia karakterisoitiin. Ligandin huonon liukoisuuden vuoksi siit\u00e4 valmistettiin natriumsuola (dbatNa2), jonka avulla ligandista saatiin vesiliukoinen. Natriumsuolan avulla onnistuttiin tuottamaan kolmea erilaista karakterisointikelpoista sinkki\u00e4 sis\u00e4lt\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 MOF-rakennetta, joista yksi sis\u00e4lsi kahta eri ligandia.
