Digitaalisia palveluita on tutkittu paljon kehittämisen ja niiden suomien mahdollisuuksien näkökulmasta, mutta niiden ylläpitäminen ja käytönhallinta jää usein vähemmällä huomiolle. Tämän tutkimuksen tavoite on tutkia yksityisen terveydenhuollon yrityksen sisäistä IT hallintoa. Tutkimuksessa luodaan ymmärrystä tietohallinnon rooliin organisaatiossa ja kuinka tunnettuja tietohallintomalleja hyödynnetään. Tutkimuksessa paneudutaan tietohallinnon työntekijöiden kokemiin haasteisiin työnsä suorittamisessa. Tutkimuksen toteutustapa oli kvalitatiivinen eli laadullinen tutkimus. Aineistonkeruu suoritettiin teemahaastattelemalla kahdeksan Organisaatio X:n henkilöä. Heidät valittiin työtehtävänsä ja kokemuksiensa perusteella, jotta saataisiin laaja kuva erilaisten tietohallinnon osa-alueiden toteutumisesta ja haasteista. Aineiston analysointi tehtiin sisällönanalyysillä. Tutkimustuloksissa löydettiin kaksi pääteemaa: Tietohallinnon nykytila ja tietohallinnon kokemat haasteet. Tutkimustulokset osoittivat, että kasvu niin henkilöstömäärällisesti kuin teknologioiden määrässä laskee työn jäsenneltävyyttä. Hyvin suunnitellut työprosessit, joita yritys voi hyödyntää toistuvan laadukkaan palvelun luomiseksi, eivät ilmesty tyhjästä. Arvokkaan sisäisen tiedon jakamiseen on kanavoitava resursseja. Organisaatiot hyödyntävät paljolti yleisesti tunnettuja tietohallinnon malleja, kuten ITIL:iä ja DevOpsia, johtuen näiden mallien laajasta opetustarjonnasta koulutuskentässä ja alan koulutusmateriaaleissa. Tietohallinnossa voidaan kokea haasteita työn siirtämisessä eteenpäin organisaation sisällä, jos toimintamallit eivät ole selkeitä. Tämä voi hidastaa työn tekemistä ja aiheuttaa negatiivisia kokemuksia henkilöstössä. Role of IT Services has been recognized as enabler of business and enhancer of business processes. It has been widely studied from perspectives of Business studies and Information Systems Sciences. A lot of research is from the perspective of developing new services and applications for conducting business but maintaining them and operating them is more overlooked field of research. The purpose of this research is to study a privatized healthcare organizations internal IT Operations. This research generates understanding on IT Operations role within and organization and how common IT Operational models are utilized. This research delves into the experiences of staff of IT Operations, the challenges they experience in their everyday life and how IT Operations are conducted. The research method for this research project was qualitative content analysis. Data collection was done by conducting semi-structured theme interviews to eight employees of Organization X. They were selected based on their role within IT Operations of Organization X, and for their experiences. Findings of the study were of two main themes. Results indicated that growth, both in number of staff and in number of technologies being utilized by Organization X had decreased structure of work. Robust processes that enable continuous and high-class service delivery don’t emerge from nothing. Allowing for quiet knowledge within organisation to spread is a key focus point for increasing quality of digital services. Organizations seem to utilize common IT Operational Models such as ITIL and DevOps, as these practices are commonly taught in academia and in the industry’s seminars and other materials. Personnel of IT Operations may experience challenges in delegating work to other divisions and teams within organization, if processes for this are not adamant. This may decrease efficacy of IT Operations and cause negative experiences to staff.
