Viime vuosien aikana uusi ilmastoliikkeen aalto on tullut esiin ymp\u00e4ri maailmaa, kuten my\u00f6s Suomessa, jossa uusia aktivistiryhmi\u00e4 ja muita toimijoita on ilmaantunut kent\u00e4lle jo olemassa olevien tueksi. Ilmastokriisi on viestinn\u00e4llisesti haastava aihe niin ryhmien sitouttamisen kuin tieteellisen tiedon lis\u00e4\u00e4misen n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta. Vain rajallinen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 tutkimustietoa ilmastoliikkeen ilmastoviestinn\u00e4st\u00e4 on julkaistu ja iso osa jo toteutetusta tutkimuksesta sijoittuu Yhdysvaltoihin.\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n pro gradu -tutkielman tarkoituksena on kuvata millaisia n\u00e4kemyksi\u00e4 suomalaisen ilmastoliikkeen toimijoilla on ilmastoviestinn\u00e4st\u00e4, siihen liittyvist\u00e4 haasteista sek\u00e4 tekij\u00f6ist\u00e4, jotka koetaan helpottavan ilmastoviestinn\u00e4n toteutusta. Tutkielman aineisto koostuu viidest\u00e4 suomalaisen ilmastoliikkeen, joko aktivismiryhm\u00e4n tai kansalaisj\u00e4rjest\u00f6n edustajasta. Aineiston ker\u00e4ttiin laadullisin menetelmin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 puolistrukturoitua haastattelumenetelm\u00e4\u00e4 maaliskuussa 2022 et\u00e4yhteyksien v\u00e4lityksell\u00e4. Haastatteluaineiston analyysi tapahtui teemoittelun avulla.\nTutkimuksen tulosten perusteella voidaan sanoa, ett\u00e4 totuudenmukainen ilmastoviestint\u00e4 on t\u00e4rke\u00e4 osa ilmastoliikkeen kokonaisvaltaista toimintaa ja keino saavuttaa joitakin liikkeen tavoitteista. Ilmastoliikkeen ilmastoviestint\u00e4 on mobilisoivaa, sitouttaa tekoihin sek\u00e4 pyrkii lis\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n n\u00e4kyvyytt\u00e4 ilmastokriisille. Ilmastoliikkeen ilmastoviestinn\u00e4n haasteiksi koettiin ihmisten psykologisten esteiden lis\u00e4ksi tavat joille ilmaston muutoksesta puhutaan yhteiskunnassa, media, sosiaalinen media sek\u00e4 ilmastoliikkeen organisaatioiden rakenteet. Joillekin ilmastoliikkeist\u00e4 n\u00e4m\u00e4 haasteet ilmeniv\u00e4t vaikeuksina tavoittaa moninaisempia ryhmi\u00e4 ilmastopositiivisen ryhm\u00e4n ulkopuolelta. Ilmastoviestint\u00e4\u00e4 helpottavina tekij\u00f6in\u00e4 sek\u00e4 keinona tavoittaa ihmiset \u2019\u2019vihre\u00e4n kuplan\u2019\u2019 ulkopuolelta olivat kohderyhm\u00e4n tunteminen ja viestin kehyst\u00e4minen kohderyhm\u00e4n mukaisesti, toivoa her\u00e4tt\u00e4v\u00e4t viestikehykset, viestin absoluuttisuudesta luopuminen sek\u00e4 ryhmien saavuttaminen n\u00e4iden omissa yhteis\u00f6iss\u00e4\u00e4n. Kuitenkin, tavoittaakseen mahdollisimman moninaisen ja laajan joukon ihmisi\u00e4, ilmastoliikkeet tarvitsevat erilaisia l\u00e4hestymistapoja sek\u00e4 taktiikoita ilmastoviestinn\u00e4ss\u00e4\u00e4n. Kaiken kaikkiaan ilmastoliikkeiden yhteisty\u00f6 sek\u00e4 yhteiseen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4np\u00e4\u00e4h\u00e4n toimiminen koettiin yhten\u00e4 t\u00e4rkeimmist\u00e4 tekij\u00f6ist\u00e4 ilmastoliikkeiden suurten tavoitteiden kannalta. Jatkotutkimus sek\u00e4 ilmastoviestinn\u00e4n ett\u00e4 ilmastoliikkeen kannalta hy\u00f6tyisi eniten monitieteellisest\u00e4 tutkimuksesta, jossa tarkasteltavana olisivat joko kohderyhmien n\u00e4kemykset ilmastoviestinn\u00e4st\u00e4 tai ilmastoliikkeen ilmastoviestinn\u00e4llisen sis\u00e4ll\u00f6t.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "After decades of arguing about the human role and cause of climate change, now there is a great scientific consensus that climate change is mainly caused by human activities. Over the past years, a new wave of climate movements has emerged all over the world. Similarly in Finland, new activist groups and other actors within climate movements have emerged. The climate crisis is everything but an easy task for communicators both from the perspective of scientific facts of it and the engagement point of view. The research on climate communication of these movements has been limited to this day and the focus of the research has primarily been in the U.S.\nThe aim of this master\u2019s thesis is to explore the Finnish climate movements\u2019 perceptions of climate communication, the communication challenges they might face, and the factors they perceive as fosters for their climate communication. The data of this research was collected through semi- structured interviews (n=5) remotely in March 2022. The interviewees were representatives of Finnish climate movements, either from an NGO or activist group. The interviews were analyzed by thematic analysis.\nThe findings of this study suggest that honest climate communication is an important and integrated part of climate movements\u2019 operations and an instrument to pursue some of their goals. Climate communication of climate movements aims to mobilize, engage in action and get visibility for the overall cause, the climate crisis. The psychological barriers, the focus of the climate change discussion in society, both the traditional media and social media platforms, and the organizational structure of the movements were considered to cause challenges for the climate communication of the movements. For some, these challenges were resulting in difficulties in reaching more wider and diverse audiences. To foster the climate communication and further connect with the people outside this \u2018green bubble\u2019, movements should understand the audience they want to target and frame the message accordingly, use hopeful message frames, and give up the idea of absolutism and target the people through their communities. Nonetheless, to mobilize as many people as possible and more diverse groups of people, a variety of tactics and approaches are needed.
