Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6iden kokemuksia omasta ty\u00f6motivaatiostaan sek\u00e4 organisaatiossa k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 olevista palkitsemisen k\u00e4yt\u00e4nteist\u00e4 ja suoritusmittareista. Tavoitteena on my\u00f6s tarkastella sit\u00e4, miten palkitsemista toteutetaan ja miten palkitsevana haastateltavat kokevat nykyisen palkitsemisen kokonaisuuden. Lis\u00e4ksi pyrin tutkielmassani selvitt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n l\u00e4hijohtajien merkityst\u00e4 palkitsemiseen ja tavoitteiden asettamiseen, sek\u00e4 miten l\u00e4hijohtajien toimilla palkitsemista ja tavoitteita saataisiin paremmin jalkautettua henkil\u00f6st\u00f6lle. Tutkimus toteutettiin laadullisena tutkimuksena ja aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin puolistrukturoitujen teemahaastatteluiden avulla. Haastatteluihin osallistui yhdeks\u00e4n kohdeorganisaation ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4\u00e4 edustaen monipuolisesti kohdeorganisaation eri liiketoiminta-alueita. Aineisto analysoitiin aineistol\u00e4ht\u00f6isen sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysin keinoin. Teoreettisena viitekehyksen\u00e4 toimii motivaatioon, palkitsemiseen ja tavoitteisiin liittyv\u00e4 aiempi tutkimus.\nTutkimuksen tuloksien teemat mukailevat hyvin vahvasti viitekehyst\u00e4. Aineiston perusteella aineeton ja aineellinen palkitseminen ovat molemmat t\u00e4rkeit\u00e4 tekij\u00f6it\u00e4 ty\u00f6motivaation n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta. Aineellinen palkitseminen on usein l\u00e4ht\u00f6kohtainen syy ty\u00f6n tekemiselle, mutta aineiston perusteella aineeton palkitseminen on se, mik\u00e4 sitouttaa ja pit\u00e4\u00e4 ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4t sitoutuneena organisaatioon. Keskeisi\u00e4 aineettoman palkitsemisen sitouttavia tekij\u00f6it\u00e4 ovat esimerkiksi ty\u00f6yhteis\u00f6, ty\u00f6n merkityksellisyys, mahdollisuus oppia uutta ja toimia asiantuntijana, vaikutusmahdollisuudet ty\u00f6n ja tavoitteiden suunnitteluun sek\u00e4 hyv\u00e4 johtaminen. Palkka, vuositavoitteisiin sidotut bonukset ja ty\u00f6suhde-edut koettiin merkityksellisimpin\u00e4 aineellisen palkitsemisen tekij\u00f6in\u00e4. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa todetaan juuri hyv\u00e4n johtamisen nousevan yhdeksi merkitt\u00e4vimm\u00e4ksi tekij\u00e4ksi ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6iden motivaation ja palkitsemisen kokemuksen kannalta.
