T\u00e4m\u00e4 voidaan huomata esimerkiksi tietohallintojohtajan ty\u00f6teht\u00e4v\u00e4n syntymisest\u00e4 1980-luvulla. Tosin tietohallintojohtajan rooli oli huomattavan erilainen verrattuna nykyiseen ja niit\u00e4 ei tarvittu samassa mittakaavassa. Alussa rooli keskittyi vahvasti teknologian tarjoamiseen ja teknisen\u00e4 tukena toimimiseen. Nykyisin rooli on kuitenkin k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6ss\u00e4 poikkeuksetta todella vaativa ylemp\u00e4\u00e4n johtoon kuuluva ty\u00f6teht\u00e4v\u00e4. Teht\u00e4v\u00e4 edellytt\u00e4\u00e4 laajaa osaamista niin teknologian kuin my\u00f6s liiketoiminnan kontekstissa. Rooli on muuttunut ja vastuu on kasvanut s\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6llisesti, mutta t\u00e4t\u00e4 ei ole huomioitu tutkimuksen n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta. T\u00e4m\u00e4n johdosta on perustelua selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, mitk\u00e4 ovat tietohallintojohtajan kompetenssit t\u00e4n\u00e4 p\u00e4iv\u00e4n\u00e4. T\u00e4t\u00e4 l\u00e4hestyttiin aluksi kirjallisuuskatsauksen avulla, jossa selvisi, ett\u00e4 etenkin johtaminen, vuorovaikutustaidot sek\u00e4 liiketoiminnan ja teknologian rajapinnassa toiminen ovat t\u00e4rkeit\u00e4 osaamisalueita tietohallintojohtajalle. Empiirinen osio toteutettiin k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6ss\u00e4 dokumenttianalyysina hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4en ty\u00f6paikkailmoituksia sek\u00e4 uutisartikkeleita. Dokumenttianalyysi vahvisti ajankohtaisen aineiston ansioista kirjallisuuskatsauksesta tuttuja havaintoja, mutta tuloksista voitiin havaita my\u00f6s poikkeamia. Johtaminen ja muut pehme\u00e4t kompetenssit ovat entist\u00e4 t\u00e4rkeimpi\u00e4. Useissa tapauksissa tietohallintojohtajan tutkinnon tieteenalalla ei ole suurta merkityst\u00e4, vaan tutkinto voi olla esimerkiksi kasvatustieteen puolelta. T\u00e4m\u00e4n avulla voidaan perustellusti argumentoida, ettei tietohallintojohtajan tarvitse kovia kompetensseja eli esimerkiksi teknist\u00e4 osaamista korostetusti niin kuin aiemmin. Tutkimusta tarvitaan kuitenkin entist\u00e4 enemm\u00e4n niin tietohallintojohtajan kuin muiden informaatioteknologian ammattilaisten kompetenssien n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta, koska aihe on entist\u00e4 ajankohtaisempi p\u00e4iv\u00e4 p\u00e4iv\u00e4lt\u00e4.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "Organizations today are more than ever dependent on different technologies. In practice, organizations gained added value and efficiency from IT and various technologies decades ago. This can be seen for example in the emergence of the post of CIO in the 1980s. However, the role of the CIO was significantly different from the current one and was not needed on the same scale. In the beginning, the role was strongly focused on providing technology and technical support. Today, the role is a really demanding position and it belongs executive team. The task requires extensive expertise in both technology and business contexts. The role has changed, and responsibilities have grown regularly, but this has not been considered from a research perspective. As a result, there is reason to find out what are the competencies of the CIO today. This was initially approached through a literature review where it became clear that especially management, interaction skills and working at the interface between business and technology are important areas of expertise for the CIO. The empirical section was carried out using documentary analysis using job advertisements and news articles. Documentary analysis confirmed the findings familiar from the literature review due to the current material, but deviations from the results could also be observed. Leadership and other soft competencies are becoming increasingly important. In many cases, the discipline of the degree of CIO is not of great importance, but the degree may be for example. in the field of education. This makes it possible to argue that the CIO does not need hard competencies, i.e., technical knowledge, as before.
