Sittemmin niiden k\u00e4ytt\u00f6 on v\u00e4hentynyt, mutta kantoja korjataan yh\u00e4 erityisesti kuusivaltaisten kangasmetsien avohakkuualoilta osin my\u00f6s juurik\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4n torjumiseksi. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 kantojen korjuun vaikutuksia kentt\u00e4kerroksen kasvillisuuteen avohakatuilla, laikkum\u00e4t\u00e4stetyill\u00e4 tuoreen kangasmets\u00e4n kuusivaltaisten kasvupaikkojen uudistusaloilla yhdeks\u00e4n vuotta hakkuiden j\u00e4lkeen vertaamalla kantojen korjuualoja aloihin, joilta kantoja ei ollut nostettu. Kantojen korjuualoilla mineraalimaata paljastuu huomattavasti enemm\u00e4n kuin pelk\u00e4st\u00e4\u00e4n laikkum\u00e4t\u00e4stetyill\u00e4 aloilla, ja maa-ainesten sekoittuminen on voimakkaampaa. Kasviyhteis\u00f6iss\u00e4 todettiin eroja kantojen korjuualojen ja pelk\u00e4st\u00e4\u00e4n laikkum\u00e4t\u00e4stettyjen alojen v\u00e4lill\u00e4, mutta my\u00f6s ehj\u00e4n maanpinnan ja mineraalimaaksi paljastuneen maanpinnan kasvillisuuden v\u00e4lill\u00e4. Lajim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 ja kokonaispeitt\u00e4vyys olivat suurempia kantojen korjuualoilla sukkession t\u00e4ss\u00e4 vaiheessa. Valoa hyvin siet\u00e4v\u00e4t pioneerilajit mets\u00e4lauha (Deschampsia flexuosa) ja maitohorsma (Epilobium angustifolium) valtasivat alaa molemmilla uudistusaloilla ja pinnoilla, erityisen peitt\u00e4v\u00e4n\u00e4 ehj\u00e4ll\u00e4 maanpinnalla. Hiekkaisten, kuivien kankaiden indikaattorilaji kanerva (Calluna vulgaris) puolestaan hy\u00f6tyi mineraalimaapinnan paljastumisesta. Varjoisammissa ja kosteammissa oloissa viihtyv\u00e4 kliimaksilajien ryhm\u00e4, johon kuuluivat mm. mustikka (Vaccinium myrtillus) ja oravanmarja (Maianthemum bifolium), menestyiv\u00e4t paremmin ehj\u00e4ll\u00e4 maanpinnalla. Verrattaessa uudistusalojen ehj\u00e4n maanpinnan kasvillisuutta hakkaamattoman, p\u00e4\u00e4tehakkuuik\u00e4isen mets\u00e4n kasvillisuuteen havaittiin, ett\u00e4 tuoreen kangasmets\u00e4n tyyppilajin mustikan peitt\u00e4vyys oli uudistusaloilla v\u00e4hentynyt radikaalisti p\u00e4\u00e4tehakkuuik\u00e4iseen mets\u00e4\u00e4n verrattuna. Erot kasviyhteis\u00f6iss\u00e4 kantojen korjuualojen, pelk\u00e4st\u00e4\u00e4n laikkum\u00e4t\u00e4stettyjen alojen sek\u00e4 p\u00e4\u00e4tehakkuuik\u00e4isen mets\u00e4n v\u00e4lill\u00e4 vahvistavat p\u00e4\u00e4osin aiempien tutkimusten tuloksia. Kasvuolosuhteet muuttuvat kantojen korjuun my\u00f6t\u00e4 viel\u00e4 voimakkaammin kuin pelk\u00e4n laikkum\u00e4t\u00e4styksen j\u00e4lkeen, ja t\u00e4m\u00e4 n\u00e4kyy kentt\u00e4kerroksen kasvillisuudessa viel\u00e4 varhaisen sukkessiovaiheen j\u00e4lkeenkin.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "In Finland the interest to use stumps as a part of forest energy rose significantly during the 2010s and for a few years almost 15 % from all woodchip used in heat- and power plants were stumps. Since then, the usage has decreased, but stumps are still harvested especially from clear-cut spruce-dominated boreal forests, partly also to prevent root rot. Aim of this study was to find out how stump harvesting affects the field layer vegetation in clear-cut and mounded spruce-dominated boreal forest habitats by comparing stump harvested stands nine years after harvesting, to stands where stumps had been left on site. Stump harvesting exposes mineral soil layer remarkably more than mounding only. Also the mixing of soil layers is more intensive. There were differences in the plant communities between of stump harvesting stands and only mounded stands, but also between exposed mineral soil and undisturbed soil surface. Number of species and total coverage of the field layer vegetation were higher in stump removal areas in this stage of succession. Light-tolerant pioneer species Deschampsia flexuosa and Epilobium angustifolium took over the area in both stump harvesting and mounded stands, and also in both surfaces, especially undisturbed ground. Calluna vulgaris, the indicator species of sandy and dry heath forests, benefited from exposing the mineral soil. Climax species, including Vaccinium myrtillus and Maianthemum bifolium, thrive usually in a more shady and moist habitats, and that group of species succeeded better on undisturbed ground. When comparing the vegetation of stump harvesting and mounded areas to uncut mature forest vegetation, it was noticed that the cover of bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), the typical species in spruce-dominated boreal forests, was radically decreased in stump removal and mounded stands. Differences in the field layer vegetation between stump harvesting areas, only mounded stands and uncut mature boreal forests observed in this study, confirm the results of previous studies.
