(Vasankari et al. 2018). The price consists of the treatment of diseases caused by lack of physical activity, as well as the costs of absences. Diseases not only burden the structures of society, but cause individuals suffering, thereby reducing their quality of life. (Gureje, Von Korff, Simon, & Gater, 1998). On average, a person spends one-third of their working life in a workplace. Most of this time, depending on the job, is inactive time.\n\nThis study examined changes in physical activity and quality of life during the Hintsa wellness program. The programme was carried out with staff from one company, of which 36 people responded to the first and 14 persons to all stages of the questionnaires. The study was carried out as a one-year longitudinal study in which data on the physical activity and quality of life of the programme participants were collected three times through surveys. Physical activity was measured by the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). Quality of life was measured by the RAND-36 survey. The results of all respondents (n=14) were searched for links between quality of life and activity. The normality of the divisions was examined by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. The links between the two different aspects were investigated using Pearson's two-way correlation coefficient.\n\nThe program lasted 10 months. It was divided into five two-month themes: Kick-off, Biomechanics, Nutrition, Recovery and Sleep. In addition, participants had an exercise app that included various physical exercises and allowed to make notes of their own performances. In addition, the app allowed employees to network and track each other's performance.\n\nDuring the programme, a 32 % increase in total physical activity was observed between the first (3457 MET-min/week) and the second (4578 MET-min/week) measurements. Between the second (4578 MET-min/week) and the third (2984 MET-min/week) measurement, physical activity decreased by 13.6 % below baseline. The overall quality of life score decreased between the first (85.33) and the second (82.63) but increased between the first and third (87.99) measurements. The changes were not statistically significant in all aspects of quality of life. There were no statistically significant links between physical activity and quality of life. During the program, variations were observed in the total physical activity of the participants as well as in the quality of life. But the results were not significant.\n\nThe statistical significance of the results may have been influenced by a small number of respondents. When measuring physical activity in a small group of participants, a questionnaire can produce incorrect responses. Some of the variation may be explained by seasonal variations. In order to obtain more accurate results, it is important for the future to have a larger number of subjects and objectively measured data on physical activity.", "language": "en", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.provenance", "value": "Submitted by Miia Hakanen (mihakane@jyu.fi) on 2022-06-09T10:12:02Z\nNo. of bitstreams: 0", "language": "en", "element": "description", "qualifier": "provenance", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.provenance", "value": "Made available in DSpace on 2022-06-09T10:12:02Z (GMT).
