Tarkoituksena on tutkia sit\u00e4, millaisia sanastoteht\u00e4vi\u00e4 valitussa oppimateriaalissa on sek\u00e4 sit\u00e4, millaisia eroja ja yht\u00e4l\u00e4isyyksi\u00e4 vuosina 2002 ja 2016 julkaistuissa oppikirjoissa on sanastoteht\u00e4vien kannalta. Tutkielmassa my\u00f6s vertaillaan valittuja teht\u00e4v\u00e4kirjoja sen osalta, millaisia sanastoteht\u00e4v\u00e4tyyppej\u00e4 niiss\u00e4 esiintyy. Lis\u00e4ksi selvitet\u00e4\u00e4n, mit\u00e4 vuoden 1994 ja 2014 perusopetuksen opetussuunnitelman perusteissa sanotaan sanaston oppimisesta sek\u00e4 tutkitaan sit\u00e4, miten t\u00e4m\u00e4 n\u00e4kyy valituissa oppikirjoissa.\n\nTutkimusaineistona k\u00e4ytettiin kahta kolmannen luokan A1-englannin teht\u00e4v\u00e4kirjaa, Wow! 3 Busy Book (2002) ja Go for it! 3 Workbook (2016). Wow! 3 Busy Book noudattaa vuoden 1994 perusopetuksen opetussuunnitelman perusteita, kun taas Go for it! 3 Workbook noudattaa viimeisimpi\u00e4, vuoden 2014 perusopetuksen opetussuunnitelman perusteita. Molemmista teht\u00e4v\u00e4kirjoista valittiin tarkasteltaviksi kolme kappaletta, joiden teemat olivat lemmikit, vaatteet ja perhe. Valituista kappaleista poimittiin sanastoteht\u00e4v\u00e4t ja ne jaettiin teht\u00e4v\u00e4tyyppien perusteella seitsem\u00e4\u00e4n kategoriaan. Teht\u00e4v\u00e4kategoriat ovat k\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6s-, tunnistus-, keskustelu-, kuuntele ja toista -, kirjoitus-, ymm\u00e4rrys- ja muut teht\u00e4v\u00e4t. Tutkimusmenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 oli vertaileva oppikirja-analyysi, ja tuloksia analysoitiin sek\u00e4 m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llisesti ett\u00e4 laadullisesti. \n\nTulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 sanastoteht\u00e4vien m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 oli merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4sti suurempi uudemmassa oppikirjassa, sill\u00e4 niiden m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 oli lis\u00e4\u00e4ntynyt noin 65 prosentilla. Sanastoteht\u00e4vien osuus kaikista teht\u00e4vist\u00e4 oli kuitenkin suurin piirtein sama molemmissa kirjoissa, noin 65 prosenttia. Tulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 A1-englannin oppikirjojen avulla voi harjoittaa monipuolisesti sanastoa. Kaikkia seitsem\u00e4\u00e4 teht\u00e4v\u00e4tyyppi\u00e4 esiintyi molemmissa oppikirjoissa, mutta erityisesti k\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6steht\u00e4vien osuus on lis\u00e4\u00e4ntynyt merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4sti, viidest\u00e4 prosentista jopa kolmeenkymmeneen prosenttiin. Sen sijaan kuuntele ja toista -teht\u00e4vien osuus oli suurempi vanhemmassa oppikirjassa, ja se oli pienentynyt nelj\u00e4nneksest\u00e4 vain kuuteen prosenttiin. Tunnistusteht\u00e4vi\u00e4 oli molemmissa oppikirjoissa reilu viidennes kaikista sanastoteht\u00e4viss\u00e4. Kirjoitusta ja ymm\u00e4rryst\u00e4 harjoittavien teht\u00e4vien osuus oli molemmissa oppikirjoissa sama, noin kymmenen prosenttia.
