Etenkin virtuaalitodellisuudesta pienten lasten kanssa, keskittyen\nlasten kokemuksiin ja toimijuuteen, on tehty vain v\u00e4h\u00e4n tutkimuksia.\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tavoitteena on selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, mit\u00e4 varhaiskasvatuksessa\nolevat lapset ajattelevat virtuaalitodellisuudesta ja miten heid\u00e4n toimijuuteensa\nvirtuaalitodellisuudessa ilmenee. Tutkimus on toteutettu laadullisena\ntapaustutkimuksen ja tutkimusaineisto on ker\u00e4tty yhdest\u00e4 p\u00e4iv\u00e4kodista,\nKauniaisten kaupungista. Tutkimukseen osallistui kahdeksan, nelj\u00e4st\u00e4 kuuteen\nvuotiasta lasta kahdessa eri tutkimusryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4. Tutkimusaineisto koostui\nvideoiduista VR-pelitilanteista ja lasten haastatteluista. Tutkimusaineisto\nanalysoitiin huolellisesti datal\u00e4ht\u00f6isen sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysin avulla.\nTutkimustulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 virtuaalimaailmassa pelaaminen oli\nlapsista motivoivaa, hauskaa ja mukaansatempaavaa. Needed equipment are becoming more affordable\nand reachable. However, there is not much research about the educational use of\nVirtual Reality. Particularly, how young children experience virtual reality and\nhow they act remains under research.\nThis research aims to find out what children in the early childhood\neducation setting think about Virtual Reality, how their agency is formed, and\ndo they consider the VR experience a positive one. The data of this qualitative\ncase study data were collected in Finland, in one of the early childhood education\ncenters in Kauniainen. The participants, altogether, eight children from four to\nsix years old, attended a virtual game playing session in two separate groups.\nThe research data consisted of videotaped material of VR playing situations and\nchildren\u00b4s interviews. The data were analyzed carefully through data-driven\ncontent analysis.\nResults show that playing in the virtual world was highly motivating, fun,\nand engaging for the children. Children learned quickly to use VR glasses and\nhand devices, although adult supervision and assistance was still needed.\nChildren's agency in VR was manifested through active action, exploration and\nindependency, but not through social interaction. Results suggest children's\nattitudes toward VR game playing were positive.
