Miten t\u00e4h\u00e4n p\u00e4\u00e4dyttiin? Mik\u00e4 selitt\u00e4\u00e4 n\u00e4in suuren eron n\u00e4iden kahden maan englannin kielen tasossa, vaikka kaikkien muiden aineiden oppimistulosten suhteen maat ovat l\u00e4hes tasavertaisia?\n\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, mill\u00e4 tavoin suomen ja korean englanninopetusmetodit ja -tavat ovat erilaisia tai samanlaisia suomalaisten ja korealaisten englanninopettajien mielest\u00e4. Tarkoitus oli my\u00f6s selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, osaisivatko n\u00e4m\u00e4 opettajat l\u00f6yt\u00e4\u00e4 syit\u00e4 suomalaisten ja korealaisten englannin kielen taitotason eroihin. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimuksessa haluttiin kartoittaa, mit\u00e4 mielt\u00e4 opettajat ovat Suomen ja Korean v\u00e4lisist\u00e4 koulutusvientimahdollisuuksista, ja mit\u00e4 asioita t\u00e4llaisessa yhteisty\u00f6ss\u00e4 tulee heid\u00e4n mielest\u00e4\u00e4n ottaa huomioon. Tutkimuksessa haastateltiin kahta suomalaista ja kolmea etel\u00e4korealaista englanninopettajaa, joilla oli kokemusta sek\u00e4 Suomen ett\u00e4 Etel\u00e4-Korean englanninopetustavoista. Haastattelut toteutettiin puolistrukturoituina ja data analysoitiin deduktiivista sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysimetodia hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4en.\n\nTutkimuksessa huomattiin, ett\u00e4 englanninopetuksen haasteet eiv\u00e4t ole niink\u00e4\u00e4n opetusmetodeissa vaan ymp\u00e4r\u00f6iv\u00e4ss\u00e4 kulttuurissa ja sen opettajiin ja oppilaisiin asettamissa vaatimuksissa. Koekeskeisyys, passiivisen kielitaidon painottaminen ja koulumaailman ulkoisen kielenopiskelumotivaation puuttuminen olivat keskeisi\u00e4 teemoja kielitaidon erojen syit\u00e4 pohdittaessa. My\u00f6s koulutusvienniss\u00e4 korostuivat erilaiset yhteiskuntatason haasteet; Suomen ja Etel\u00e4-Korean koulumaailman erot osoittautuivat niin suuriksi, ett\u00e4 pelkkien kielenopetusmetodien muuttaminen ei yksin takaisi hyvi\u00e4 oppimistuloksia. Haastateltavat l\u00f6ysiv\u00e4t kuitenkin kehitysehdotuksia molempien maiden koulutusj\u00e4rjestelmiin ja kieltenopetukseen.
