Lis\u00e4ksi ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4n ja\nyhteiskunnan nopeat muutokset lis\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4t ammattikorkeakoulujen uudistamistarpeita, mink\u00e4\nvuoksi fysioterapian opettajan roolin tutkiminen ohjatun harjoittelun kontekstissa on t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4,\netenkin kun aiempi tutkimus aiheesta on v\u00e4h\u00e4ist\u00e4. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4\nfysioterapian opettajien k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 opettajan roolista fysioterapeuttiopiskelijoiden ohjatussa\nharjoittelussa. Fenomenografia soveltuu tutkimusotteeksi, kun tutkimusaihetta halutaan\ntarkastella syv\u00e4llisesti sek\u00e4 lis\u00e4t\u00e4 ymm\u00e4rryst\u00e4 tutkittavasta ilmi\u00f6st\u00e4 ja kuvata tutkimuskohdetta\nniin kuin opettajat sen itse ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4v\u00e4t.\n\nTutkimus toteutettiin laadullisena fenomenografisena haastattelututkimuksena. Tutkimukseen\nosallistui yhteens\u00e4 kymmenen (10) fysioterapian opettajaa kuudesta eri suomalaisesta\nammattikorkeakoulusta. Osallistujien keski-ik\u00e4 oli 51-vuotta ja heid\u00e4n kokemuksensa\nopettajana toimimisesta vaihteli nelj\u00e4st\u00e4 (4) vuodesta 36 vuoteen ja kokemus fysioterapeuttina\ntoimimisesta viidest\u00e4 (5) vuodesta 30 vuoteen. Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin yksil\u00f6haastattelulla syyslokakuussa 2021. Haastattelut litteroitiin ja aineisto analysoitiin fenomenografisella\nanalyysimenetelm\u00e4ll\u00e4. Fenomenografisen tutkimuksen tulokset kuvaavat fysioterapian\nopettajien kollektiivisesti jaettuja k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 tutkittavasta ilmi\u00f6st\u00e4.\n\nFysioterapian opettajien varioivat k\u00e4sitykset opettajan roolista fysioterapeuttiopiskelijoiden\nohjatussa harjoittelussa j\u00e4sentyiv\u00e4t kolmeksi hierarkkisesti laajenevaksi kuvaskategoriaksi.\nKuvauskategorioissa fysioterapian opettajien rooli harjoittelukontekstissa k\u00e4sitettiin prosessin\nvarmistajana, n\u00e4kyv\u00e4n\u00e4 vaikuttajana ja aktiivisena kehitt\u00e4j\u00e4n\u00e4. Kuvauskategorioissa varioivia\nteemoja tunnistettiin nelj\u00e4, jotka olivat 1) pedagoginen osaaminen, 2) ammattikorkeakoulun\nasiantuntijaosaaminen, 3) opiskelijan ohjaus ja tukeminen ja 4) ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4yhteisty\u00f6.\nKuvauskategorioiden kriittiset erot ilmeniv\u00e4t tarkastelemalla, miten tunnistetut teemat\nn\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytyiv\u00e4t eri kuvauskategorioissa. Kriittisi\u00e4 aspekteja fysioterapian opettajan roolissa\nohjatussa harjoittelussa olivat opiskelija- ja ohjaajal\u00e4ht\u00f6isyyden huomiointi\nharjoitteluprosessissa, vuorovaikutus yhteisty\u00f6n vahvistamisessa ja opettajan\nasiantuntijaosaamisen soveltaminen harjoittelukontekstissa. Aktiivisen kehitt\u00e4j\u00e4n\nkuvauskategoriaan siirrytt\u00e4ess\u00e4 kriittisen\u00e4 aspektina n\u00e4htiin fysioterapian opettajan kehitt\u00e4v\u00e4\nty\u00f6ote fysioterapeuttikoulutukseen, opetukseen ja k\u00e4yt\u00e4nt\u00f6ihin liittyen, ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4yhteisty\u00f6n\nlis\u00e4\u00e4ntyminen sek\u00e4 alueellinen ja kansallinen vaikuttaminen opettajan roolin kautta. In addition, rapid changes of working\nlife and society increase higher education institutes\u2019 need for reform why physiotherapy\nteachers\u2019 role in clinical practice setting is important to study especially when previous research\nis minor. The aim of this study was to explore physiotherapy teachers\u2019 conceptions of their role\nin physiotherapy students\u2019 clinical practice. Phenomenography applies as research approach\nwhen research phenomenon needs to be viewed deeply and increase understanding of\nphenomenon of interest and describe research subject in the way that teachers understand it.\n\nThe study was conducted as qualitative interview study using phenomenographic research\napproach. The study involved total ten (10) physiotherapy teachers from six different university\nof applied sciences. Participants\u2019 average age was 51-years and their experience in teaching\nvaried from four (4) to 36 years and experience working as a physiotherapist varied from five\n(5) to 30 years. Study material was collected with individual interview from September to\nOctober in 2021. Interviews were transcribed verbatim and were analyzed using\nphenomenographic analyzing method. Results of phenomenographic research represent\nphysiotherapy teachers\u2019 varying ways of understanding the phenomenon under study at the\ncollective level.\n\nPhysiotherapy teachers` varying conceptions of their role in physiotherapy students` clinical\npractice formed into three hierarchically expanding categories of description. Physiotherapy\nteachers\u2019 role in clinical practice were understood as a process\u2019 securer, visible influencer and\nas an active developer. Four dimensions of variation were identified, which were 1) pedagogical\ncompetence, 2) higher educations\u2019 expertise, 3) students\u2019 guidance and support and 4)\ncollaboration with working life. Critical aspects appeared by viewing how identified\ndimensions of variation emerged within categories of description. Critical aspects in\nphysiotherapy teachers\u2019 role in clinical practice were student- and clinical supervisor-centered\nconsideration in clinical practice process, interaction in enhancing collaboration and applying\nteachers\u2019 expertise in clinical practice setting. Shifting into active developers\u2019 category of\ndescription, physiotherapy teachers\u2019 developmental way to act regarding physiotherapy\neducation, teaching and practice, increased professional collaboration with workplaces, local\nand national influence on through teachers\u2019 role were seen as critical aspect.
