Tyypillisesti analysoinnissa on keskitytty kilpailulliseen dataan, kuten esimerkiksi jalkapallo-ottelussa sy\u00f6tt\u00f6jen, laukausten ja vapaapotkujen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4n, pelaajien aika- ja paikkatietoon, joukkueiden peliryhmitykseen ja esimerkiksi otteluaikatauluihin. Vaikka pelaajien fysiologisia vaatimuksia ja niiden merkityst\u00e4 joukkueen suoritukseen on tutkittu paljon, hiukan yll\u00e4tt\u00e4en taktisen k\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymisen ja fysiologisten vaatimusten yhteytt\u00e4 on sit\u00e4 vastoin alettu tutkia enemm\u00e4n vasta hiljattain. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 pro gradu -tutkielmassa selvitettiin, miten pelaajien fyysinen kuormitus vaikuttaa joukkueen k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4n pinta-alan dimensioiden muutoksiin ottelun aikana. Tutkimus suoritettiin yhteisty\u00f6ss\u00e4 Polar Electro Oy:n kanssa. Tutkimusaineisto ker\u00e4ttiin kolmessa Suomen korkeimman sarjatason ottelussa kaudella 2020. Otteluissa mitattiin kotijoukkueen pelaajien sykett\u00e4, kuljettua kokonaismatkaa, kuljettua matkaa eri nopeusalueilla, kiihdytyksien ja jarrutuksien lukum\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4, kovavauhtisten juoksujen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4 sek\u00e4 askeltiheytt\u00e4. Lis\u00e4ksi seurattiin kotijoukkueen pelaajien sijaintia kent\u00e4ll\u00e4. Dataa ker\u00e4ttiin yhteens\u00e4 20 ammattipelaajalta (ik\u00e4 27,3 \u00b1 4,6, pituus 182,2 \u00b1 7,3 cm). Pelaajien fyysisen kuormituksen arvioimiseksi laskettiin metabolinen teho, josta johdettiin edelleen korkean ja eritt\u00e4in korkean tehon ty\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4t. Joukkueen k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4n pinta-alan dimensioiden muutosten tarkasteluun valittiin muuttujiksi pelaajien keskim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4inen poikkeama pituus- ja leveyssuunnassa joukkueen geometrisest\u00e4 keskipisteest\u00e4. Muuttujia arvoitiin koko ottelun, puoliaikojen, 15 ja viiden minuutin aikaikkunoiden keskiarvoina. Muuttujien v\u00e4listen korrelaatioiden laskemiseen k\u00e4ytettiin viiden minuutin keskiarvoja. Ottelussa 1 pelaajien keskim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4isen pituussuuntaisen poikkeaman ja kaikkien fyysisen kuormituksen muuttujien sek\u00e4 kuljetun matkan v\u00e4lill\u00e4 oli eritt\u00e4in voimakas, tilastollisesti eritt\u00e4in merkitsev\u00e4 (p < 0.001) positiivinen korrelaatio. Otteluissa 2 ja 3 sek\u00e4 pituus- ett\u00e4 leveyssuuntaisten poikkeamien ja fyysisen kuormituksen muuttujien v\u00e4lill\u00e4 havaittiin lineaarisia yhteyksi\u00e4, mutta ei yht\u00e4 voimakkaita kuin ottelussa 1. Fyysisen kuormituksen muuttujista metabolinen teho korreloi voimakkaimmin ja tilastollisesti merkitsev\u00e4sti keskim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4isten poikkeamien kanssa otteluissa 1 ja 2. Tulosten perusteella joukkueen fyysisen kuormituksen kumuloituminen ja siit\u00e4 mahdollisesti aiheutuva pelaajien v\u00e4syminen eiv\u00e4t todenn\u00e4k\u00f6isesti kasvata joukkueen k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4n pinta-alan dimensioita ottelun aikana. Typically, for instance in soccer analytics have been focused on competitive data such as the number of passes, shots and free kicks, spatiotemporal information of the players, team formations and match schedules. Even though players\u2019 physical demands and their role on the team performance have been investigated widely, it is slightly surprising that the relationship of physical demands and tactical behavior has only recently started to attract interest from researchers. The purpose of this study was to investigate how physical load imposed on players affects the dimensions of the surface area of a team during a soccer match. The study was conducted in co-operation with Polar Electro Ltd. The data were gathered in three matches of the season 2020 in the premier division of Finnish football. The observed parameters were players\u2019 heart rate, total distance covered, distance at different speed zones, number of accelerations and decelerations, number of sprints and cadence. In addition, the positions of the players of the home team were tracked during the matches. The data were gathered from 20 players (age 27,3 \u00b1 4,6, height 182,2 \u00b1 7,3 cm) in total. In order to estimate players\u2019 physical load, metabolic power and further high and very high intensity workloads were calculated. To investigate the dimensions of the surface area of a team, players\u2019 mean longitudinal and lateral deviations from the centroid of a team were specified. These variables were assessed as a mean of full match, half-time, 15- and 5-minutes time frames of which the latter were used for calculation of intervariable correlations. In the match 1, the player\u2019s mean longitudinal deviation from the centroid of a team correlated strongly and statistically significantly (p < 0.001) with all variables of the physical load and the total distance covered. In the match 2, linear relationships were observed between both mean longitudinal and lateral deviations and all variables of the physical load but not as strong as in the match 1. Of the variables of physical load, metabolic power correlated the strongest and statistically the most significantly with mean deviations in match 1 and 2. The results suggest that the accumulation of physical load and the fatigue it may possibly cause are not likely to cause an increase in the dimensions of the surface area of a team during a match.
