T\u00e4t\u00e4 tutkittiin laadullisella suunnittelutoimintatutkimusmenetelm\u00e4ll\u00e4 (ADR) kahden hypoteesin avulla, joiden kautta mitattiin ratkaisun sosiaalista ja teknist\u00e4 vaikutusta. Tutkimuksen kohteena oli tapausyritys Kalmarin ty\u00f6teht\u00e4v\u00e4, jossa k\u00e4siteltiin pilvipalvelusta saatavaa dataa. Tavoitteena oli luoda yritykselle IoT-pohjainen ratkaisu, jonka j\u00e4lkeen k\u00e4sin teht\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 ty\u00f6t\u00e4 ei en\u00e4\u00e4 vaadittaisi ja niihin k\u00e4ytetyt henkil\u00f6ty\u00f6tunnit voitaisiin vapauttaa muihin teht\u00e4viin. Teoreettisessa osuudessa syvennyttiin kahteen aiheeseen: IoT ja kysynn\u00e4n suunnittelu. Tutkielmassa avattiin niiden k\u00e4sitteet ja nostettiin esille niihin liittyvi\u00e4 haasteita ja hy\u00f6tyj\u00e4. IoT esimerkiksi on viel\u00e4 alana globaalisti jakautunut eik\u00e4 sen m\u00e4\u00e4ritelm\u00e4\u00e4 ole standardisoitu. Jakautuneita k\u00e4sitteit\u00e4 selkeytettiin kokoamalla yhteen kuvauksia IoT:sta eri n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmista, jotta lukijalla on selke\u00e4 kuva tutkimuksen sis\u00e4ist\u00e4miseen. Kysynn\u00e4n suunnittelu on puolestaan jokaisen tavaroita tai palveluita myyv\u00e4n yrityksen kulmakivi\u00e4. Siihen liittyv\u00e4t p\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6kset kertovat onko yritys esimerkiksi keskittynyt tavaroiden v\u00e4litt\u00e4miseen, valmistamiseen vai myyntiin. Palvelupuolella siihen kuuluvat p\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6kset myynti\u00e4 tukevan kapasiteetin hallinnasta. T\u00e4llaisia ovat muun muassa p\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6kset pilvipalveluiden serveri hallinnasta tai tapahtuman henkil\u00f6st\u00f6suunnittelusta. Itse tutkielman ratkaisu muodostui tietoj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4tieteen, IoT:n, kysynn\u00e4n suunnittelun ja tapausyrityksen\u00e4 olevan Kalmarin kokonaisuuksien tuntemuksesta. Tutkielman tulos mitattiin kahdella mittarilla; sosiaalisella ja teknisell\u00e4, joista sosiaalinen puoli arvioitiin haastatteluilla ja ty\u00f6tunteihin kulutetulla ajalla, ja tekninen puoli mitattiin IT-ratkaisujen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4ll\u00e4 ennen ja j\u00e4lkeen prosessimuutoksen. ADR -menetelm\u00e4\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en pro gradu -tutkielmassa rakennettiin uusi interaktiivinen sivu, jossa yritys p\u00e4\u00e4si tavoitteiden mukaisesti yhten\u00e4ist\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n prosesseja ja hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n ker\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4ns\u00e4 dataa ilman ylim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4isi\u00e4 ty\u00f6vaiheita.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The purpose of this master\u2019s thesis is to study the Internet of Things (IoT) and utilising it in a single inventory planning process. The study was carried out with a qualitative Action Design Research (ADR) method with two hypotheses that measured the social and technical effects of the outcome. The case study was focused on a manual task that utilises cloud data. The aim was to create an automated IoT based solution that will eliminate unnecessary process steps and release those working hours that are used on it. Theoretical main areas were IoT and demand planning. The study opened up their conceptions, challenges and benefits. IoT, for example, is still divided globally, and there is no international standardised definition for it. This master\u2019s thesis includes IoT conceptions from various publications and attempts to build a clear picture for the reader in order to internalise the study. Demand planning, on the other hand, is one of the cornerstones of every organisation that sells goods and/or products. Decisions related to inventory control are a significant part of organisations\u2019 strategy. They determine whether an organisation deals, manufactures or sells goods. With services, decisions include controlling that capacity that supports sales of services. These can be server ownership questions or booking staff for an event. The solution itself was created based on knowledge from information science systems, IoT, demand planning and case company Kalmar defined elements. The study was evaluated with social and technical hypotheses, where the social aspects were measured via interviews and the number of working hours used, and the technical hypothesis was evaluated based on IT solutions needed before and after the process change.
