Tutkielmassa selvitetään, miten matalan tarkkuuden tai "tuotantotarkkuuksisella" ALS-datalla voidaan suorittaa analyysiä puiden herkkyydestä tykkylumelle sovelluksena suomalaiseen metsän pistepilviaineistoon. Tutkielman tulokset demonstroivat informatiivisen riskianalyysin tuottamisen olevan mahdollista tällaisella datalla ja luovat näkemystä analyysin kehittämiseksi. Crown snow-load is a damage-causing phenomenon in boreal forests. The damages experienced by trees by crown snow-load may cause damages especially to electrical lines. By collecting ALS (aerial laser scanning) point cloud data of trees and electrical lines, it might be possible to analyze the risks of trees to electrical lines more automatically, but there exists lack of knowledge regarding automatic analysis of this risk, especially with low-quality ALS data. In this study, we research how low-quality or "production quality" ALS data may be used to analyze the sensitivity of trees to crown snow-load as an application to Finnish forest point cloud data. The results of the study demonstrate that it’s possible to produce informative risk analysis with such data and produce insight as to how to improve such analysis.
