Sit\u00e4 aiheuttaa muun muassa tiedon monet l\u00e4hteet, liiallinen informaation m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4, informaation hallinnan vaikeus, tiedon asiankuulumattomuus ja tiedon merkityksett\u00f6myys sek\u00e4 ajanpuute ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4\u00e4 tietoa. Informaatiotulvan aiheuttajien j\u00e4lkeen tutkitaan informaatiotulvan yleisimpi\u00e4 vaikutuksia yksil\u00f6\u00f6n, mm. p\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6ksenteon heikkenemist\u00e4 sek\u00e4 informaatioahdistuksen kokemista. The meaning of this thesis is to find out what information overload is, how it effects individuals and ways to control it. First information overload is defined and then we will briefly go through the history on information overload. Many people think information overload is a modern-day problem, but it has been recognized already in the 50-60\u2019s. Many things cause information overload, such as multiple sources of information, too much information, difficult to manage information, irrelevance of information and the lack of time to understand all the information available. After the causes is discussed the most common effects of information overload, such as decision making and information anxiety. One of the most important finding is that it seems that information overload is very common and there are many ways to control it. Individuals can personally control it and there are also many ways technology can help to reduce information overload.
