Opetusmenetelmi\u00e4 tutkittiin kemian oppiaineen sis\u00e4ll\u00e4 spektroskopian aiheen opetuksessa. Tutkimus tapahtui suomalaisessa lukiossa, jonka kahdesta eri KE2 Ihmisen ja elinymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n kemiaa -kurssia suorittavasta oppilasryhm\u00e4st\u00e4 muodostuivat varsinaiset tutkimusryhm\u00e4t. Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin, miten ja miss\u00e4 m\u00e4\u00e4rin ongelmaperustainen opetusmenetelm\u00e4 poikkeaa opettajajohtoisesta opetusmenetelm\u00e4st\u00e4 lukion kemian opetuksen v\u00e4lineen\u00e4. Tutkimuksessa keskityttiin erityisesti opetusmenetelmien tuottamiin oppimistuloksiin, niin ty\u00f6- kuin s\u00e4il\u00f6muistinkin suhteen, mutta my\u00f6s opetusmenetelmien vaikutuksiin lukiolaisten oppimismotivaatiossa. N\u00e4iden lis\u00e4ksi tunnistettiin opetusmenetelmien erillisi\u00e4 tutkimuksen aikana pinnalle nousseita etuja sek\u00e4 haasteita suhteessa toisiinsa.\nTutkielma koostui sek\u00e4 kirjallisesta ett\u00e4 k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6n osasta. Kirjallisessa osassa k\u00e4siteltiin tutkimuksessa tarkasteltavien opetusmenetelmien ja opetettavan aiheen lis\u00e4ksi kognitiiviskonstruktivistista oppimisk\u00e4sityst\u00e4, jolle nykyopetus p\u00e4\u00e4asiassa perustuu sek\u00e4 oppimismotivaation ilmi\u00f6t\u00e4. N\u00e4ill\u00e4 luotiin kokeellista osaa tukeva viitekehys. Kokeellinen osa sis\u00e4lsi kuvauksen tutkimuksen kohderyhm\u00e4st\u00e4, tutkimuksessa k\u00e4ytetyist\u00e4 v\u00e4lineist\u00e4 sek\u00e4 menetelmist\u00e4, ja yksityiskohtaisemman selityksen tutkimuksen etenemisest\u00e4. Tutkimuksen kohderyhm\u00e4t olivat suomalaiset lukiolaiset ja lukion opettajat. Tutkimusmenetelmin\u00e4 hy\u00f6dynnettiin kehitt\u00e4mis- ja kyselytutkimusta sek\u00e4 sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysia ja tilastollista analyysia. N\u00e4iden lis\u00e4ksi kokeelliseen osaan sis\u00e4ltyi tutkimustulosten esitt\u00e4minen ja niiden analyysi sek\u00e4 niist\u00e4 tehdyt johtop\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6kset.\nTutkimuksen tulosten perusteella ongelmaperustainen opetusmenetelm\u00e4 tuki lukioik\u00e4isten oppilaiden sis\u00e4syntyist\u00e4 oppimismotivaatiota selv\u00e4sti opettajajohtoista opetusmenetelm\u00e4\u00e4 paremmin. Toisaalta ongelmaperustainen opetusmenetelm\u00e4 aiheutti opettajalle suuremman ty\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n kuin opettajajohtoinen opetusmenetelm\u00e4.
