Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimme, muuntavatko ty\u00f6n merkitykselliseksi kokeminen tai ty\u00f6h\u00f6n ylisitoutuminen tavoitettavuuden ja ty\u00f6n imun v\u00e4list\u00e4 yhteytt\u00e4. Tutkimuksemme aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin e-kyselyll\u00e4 syksyll\u00e4 2019 Suomen Journalistiliittoon kuuluvilta media-alan ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6ilt\u00e4 osana Media Work 2030 -tutkimushanketta. Koko tutkimushankkeessa kyselyn vastausprosentti oli 7,4 %, ja t\u00e4m\u00e4n k\u00e4sill\u00e4 olevan tutkimuksen otoskooksi muodostui 860 (naisia 61 %). Analysoimme aineistoa hierarkkisen regressioanalyysin avulla.\nTutkimuksen tulokset osoittivat, ett\u00e4 tavoitettavuus ei mediaty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6ill\u00e4 ollut yhteydess\u00e4 ty\u00f6n imun kokemiseen. Ty\u00f6n merkityksellisyyden tai ty\u00f6h\u00f6n ylisitoutumisen muuntavaa vaikutusta tavoitettavuuden ja ty\u00f6n imun v\u00e4liseen yhteyteen ei my\u00f6sk\u00e4\u00e4n havaittu. Sen sijaan ty\u00f6n merkityksellisyys itsess\u00e4\u00e4n oli positiivisesti ja ty\u00f6h\u00f6n ylisitoutuminen negatiivisesti yhteydess\u00e4 ty\u00f6n imuun. Sek\u00e4 ty\u00f6n merkityksellisyys ett\u00e4 ylisitoutuminen ty\u00f6h\u00f6n olivat molemmat positiivisesti yhteydess\u00e4 tavoitettavuuteen, vaikka kesken\u00e4\u00e4n n\u00e4iden muuttujien v\u00e4lill\u00e4 ilmeni negatiivinen yhteys.\nYhteenvetona voidaan todeta, ett\u00e4 sek\u00e4 ty\u00f6n merkitykselliseksi kokeminen ett\u00e4 ylisitoutuminen ty\u00f6h\u00f6n saattavat selitt\u00e4\u00e4 ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4n tavoitettavuutta vapaa-ajalla, ja n\u00e4ist\u00e4 ty\u00f6n merkityksellisyys toimii voimavarana ja ylisitoutuminen ty\u00f6h\u00f6n riskin\u00e4 yksil\u00f6n hyvinvoinnille edellisen ollessa yhteydess\u00e4 korkeaan ja j\u00e4lkimm\u00e4isen v\u00e4h\u00e4iseen ty\u00f6n imun kokemukseen. Jatkotutkimuksissa olisi aiheellista tarkastella lis\u00e4\u00e4 tavoitettavuuden ja ty\u00f6hyvinvoinnin v\u00e4list\u00e4 yhteytt\u00e4, sill\u00e4 on t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4 l\u00f6yt\u00e4\u00e4 erilaisia tapoja tukea ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6iden kokonaisvaltaista jaksamista ja hyvinvointia kiihtyv\u00e4ss\u00e4 ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4ss\u00e4.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The purpose of this master\u2019s thesis was to examine the extended availability for work during non-work hours among media workers and the association between extended availability and the experience of work engagement. In addition, we examined whether the experience of meaningfulness in work or overcommitment to work modifies the relationship between extended availability and work engagement. The data for our study was collected via e-survey in September 2019 from media workers belonging to The Union of Journalists in Finland as a part of Media Work 2030 research project. The response rate for the whole research project was 7,4%, and the sample size for the study at hand formed up to be 860 (women 61%). We analyzed the data with the aid of hierarchical regression analysis.\nThe results of this study indicated that there was no relationship between extended availability and work engagement among media workers. Neither did we find a modifying effect of meaningfulness or overcommitment to the relationship between extended availability and work engagement. Instead, meaningfulness in work itself was positively and overcommitment to work negatively associated with work engagement. Both work-related meaningfulness and overcommitment were positively associated with extended availability, although these two phenomena were negatively related to each other.\nAs a summary, it can be stated that both work-related meaningfulness and overcommitment explain the extended availability during non-work hours of a worker, and of these, meaningfulness functions as a resource and overcommitment as a risk to the wellbeing of an individual, the former being in association with higher and latter with lower levels of work engagement.
