Monikieliset lapset ovat jo usean vuoden ajan vaatineet huomiota, joka nostaisi heid\u00e4n rikkaan ja moninaisen kielenk\u00e4ytt\u00f6ns\u00e4 negatiivisen valon sijasta positiiviseen valoon. \nT\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tavoite on tutkia monikielisten nuorten kieli-identiteetti\u00e4. Ensin tutkimus tarkastelee monikielisen ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n vaikutusta ihmisen kieli-identiteettiin. T\u00e4m\u00e4n j\u00e4lkeen tutkimus tuo esiin, miten monikieliset kuudesluokkalaiset ilment\u00e4v\u00e4t kielitietoisuuttaan ja kieli-identiteetti\u00e4\u00e4n. Tutkimuskysymyksiin vastatakseen tutkimuksessa hy\u00f6dynnettiin kolmea tiedonkeruumenetelm\u00e4\u00e4. N\u00e4m\u00e4 menetelm\u00e4t, joita on k\u00e4ytetty monikielisten ihmisten identiteettien tutkimiseen, olivat etnografinen havainnointi, teemahaastattelut ja kuvataiteisiin pohjautuvat visuaaliset menetelm\u00e4t. Koulun, ja p\u00e4\u00e4asiassa CLIL-luokan, etnografiseen havainnointiin k\u00e4ytettiin noin kolme viikkoa. T\u00e4n\u00e4 aikana ker\u00e4ttiin muistiinpanoja sek\u00e4 j\u00e4rjestettiin teemahaastatteluja. Kuvataiteisiin pohjautuvat visuaaliset kuvaukset pyydettiin osallistujilta etuk\u00e4teen, jonka j\u00e4lkeen osallistujat kertoivat kuvauksistaan henkil\u00f6kohtaisten haastattelujensa lopuksi. \nTutkimuksen tuloksista voidaan p\u00e4\u00e4tell\u00e4, ett\u00e4 osallistujien kielirepertuaari on rikas, moninainen ja jatkuvasti kehittyv\u00e4. Osallistujien kotikieli-identiteetill\u00e4\u00e4n on merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4 rooli siin\u00e4, miten he yll\u00e4pit\u00e4v\u00e4t ja huolehtivat suhteestaan perheisiins\u00e4. Tutkimuksen perusteella n\u00e4hd\u00e4\u00e4n, ett\u00e4 n\u00e4m\u00e4 monikieliset nuoret k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t heid\u00e4n koko kielirepertuaariaan. T\u00e4m\u00e4n vuoksi heid\u00e4n k\u00e4sityksens\u00e4 kielist\u00e4 on kokonaisvaltainen ja jatkuvassa liikkeess\u00e4 kielten sek\u00e4 kielielementtien v\u00e4lill\u00e4. He k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t kieli\u00e4 ihmissuhteiden luomiseen ja yll\u00e4pit\u00e4miseen, erityisesti kotikielen ja suomen kielen avulla. Osallistujat eiv\u00e4t rajoita kielenk\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4\u00e4n, vaan k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t kieli\u00e4 sujuvasti ja vapaasti, osoittaen korkeaa kielitietoisuutta. He osoittavat, ett\u00e4 kieltenoppiminen ja sis\u00e4ist\u00e4minen on prosessi, n\u00e4in vahvistaen kielent\u00e4misen (languaging) k\u00e4sitett\u00e4. Osallistujat ilment\u00e4v\u00e4t moninaisia kieli-identiteettej\u00e4\u00e4n my\u00f6s visuaalisissa kuvauksissa, joiden avulla he kuvasivat miten he havaitsevat jokaisen puhumansa kielen.
