This type of device can be utilised in applications requiring enrichment or concentration. The device designed is fabricated from PDMS and it has a 1.5-loop spiral geometry. The sorting is caused by hydrodynamic forces acting on the particles flowing in a microchannel. Dean effect, caused by curvature of the channel, enhances the separation. It leads to 31.5 \u03bcm sized particles to be sorted from 14.3 \u03bcm and 5.1 \u03bcm sized particles. With the plastic particles, the device demonstrated a separation efficiency of up to 94%. The results could be improved by additional components for the device or the set-up, and by modifying the image analysis script.
