Furthermore, social relationships and resilience have shown to be key protective factors from the negative effects of the pandemic. Although a fair number of studies have been conducted on this subject, information regarding the significance of the underlying factors to stress is still insufficient. At the moment, research about the role of interoceptive sensitivity on stress during the COVID-19 pandemic is non-existent.\n\nThe present study explored the connection of interoceptive sensitivity, social support and resilience to the experience of stress during the COVID-19 pandemic. An additional goal was to view whether gender and age would form a similar connection to the experience of stress as previous studies have demonstrated. These studies have found male-gender and higher age to correlate with lower levels of stress. The data collection was conducted through a Webropol-based questionnaire between December 2020 and January 2021. This survey was distributed through social media and 434 participants took part in it. \n\nThe connections of interoceptive sensitivity, number of social relationships and resilience to the experience of stress during the COVID-19 pandemic were tested with Pearson\u2019s correlation coefficient. Hierarchical regression analysis was used to examine moderative connections. The connection of stress and age was tested with independent samples t-test and the gender\u2019s connection to stress with X2-test of independence. Correlations were detected between variables, but no moderative effects were discovered. \n\nThe results indicate that a strong interoceptive sensitivity is connected to a higher experience of stress during the pandemic. Resilience was connected to a lower experience of stress during the pandemic. These results are consistent with those of previous research. Additionally, the number of social relationships was indicatively connected to a lower experience of stress and was, therefore, parallel with previous literature. With regard to gender and age, the results of this study support the findings of past research, namely that younger people and women experience more stress.", "language": "en", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.provenance", "value": "Submitted by Miia Hakanen (mihakane@jyu.fi) on 2021-07-19T04:15:49Z\nNo. of bitstreams: 0", "language": "en", "element": "description", "qualifier": "provenance", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.provenance", "value": "Made available in DSpace on 2021-07-19T04:15:49Z (GMT).
