Ilmi\u00f6 liitet\u00e4\u00e4n vahvasti sosiaalisen median k\u00e4yt\u00f6n lis\u00e4\u00e4ntymiseen, mutta tutkijat eiv\u00e4t ole yksimielisi\u00e4 siit\u00e4, liittyyk\u00f6 FoMo-kokemus v\u00e4ist\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00e4 sosiaaliseen median ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6\u00f6n vai onko kyseess\u00e4 ilmi\u00f6, joka ei ole sidoksissa tiettyyn kontekstiin. Tutkimusten mukaan paitsij\u00e4\u00e4misen pelolla on todettu olevan yhteys muun muassa laumamuotoiseen kulutusk\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymiseen, br\u00e4ndisitoutuneisuuteen, ostoaikomukseen ja ostoimpulsiivisuuteen. FoMo-ilmi\u00f6 vaikuttaa kuluttajien k\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymiseen monin eri tavoin, joten sen tutkimiseen markkinoinnin tieteenalalla on ryhdytty syyst\u00e4. Ilmi\u00f6n vaikutuksilla ja esiintyvyydell\u00e4 voi olla kulttuurisia eroja, jonka vuoksi maailman laajuista tutkimusta aiheesta tarvitaan lis\u00e4\u00e4.\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, onko paitsij\u00e4\u00e4misen pelolla positiivista yhteytt\u00e4 ostoimpulsiivisuuteen verkkoyhteis\u00f6palvelu Faceboo-kissa. Lis\u00e4ksi selvitettiin, mill\u00e4 tapaa eri taustatekij\u00e4t vaikuttavat kuluttajan ostoimpulsiivisuuteen ja alttiuteen kokea paitsij\u00e4\u00e4misen pelkoa. Tutkimuksen empiirinen aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin Sipsikaljavegaanit Facebook-ryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en s\u00e4hk\u00f6ist\u00e4 kyselylomaketta. Vuonna 2016 Image-lehti valitsi Sipsikaljavegaanit ryhm\u00e4n vuoden some-ilmi\u00f6ksi Suomessa. Kyselylomake oli avoinna tunnin ajan ja siihen saatiin 835 vastausta. Tutkimus toteutettiin kvantitatiivisesti ja analysoitiin tilastollisin menetelmin hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4en SPSS ja SmartPLS \u2013ohjelmistoja.\nTutkimuksen tulokset tukivat osittain aiempia tutkimuksia sek\u00e4 niiden pohjalta rakennettua tutkimusmallia. Toisella paitsij\u00e4\u00e4misen pelon dimensiolla, henkil\u00f6kohtaisella FoMo:lla, todettiin olevan positiivinen yhteys ostoimpulsiivisuuden molempiin dimensioihin. Taustatekij\u00f6ist\u00e4 eWOM-viestinn\u00e4ll\u00e4 todettiin olevan positiivinen yhteys henkil\u00f6kohtaiseen paitsij\u00e4\u00e4misen pelkoon ja affektiiviseen ostoimpulsiivisuuteen.
