| Summary: | Ikäteknologioilla tuetaan ikääntyneen henkilön asumista toimintakyvyn heikentyessä. Ikäteknologioiden suunnittelussa tulee ottaa huomioon ikääntyneiden tarpeet ja käytön esteettömyys tutussa ja turvallisessa ympäristössä. Ikääntyneillä teknologian omaksumiseen vaikuttavat merkittävästi motivaatio, toimintakyky, elämänkokemus ja tärkeinä pidetyt arvot. Omaksumisen haasteet liittyvät teknologioiden käytettävyysongelmiin ja puutteelliseen perehdyttämiseen. Käyttömotivaatiosta tehtyjen tutkimusten on kuitenkin havaittu olevan ristiriitaisia. Tulevaisuudessa väestörakenne tulee myös muuttumaan ja yhä useampi ikääntynyt asuu itsenäisesti ikäteknologioiden tuella. Näistä syistä ikäteknologioihin ja niiden omaksumiseen tulee perehtyä tarkemmin.
The purpose of age technology is to support the living of an elderly person with impaired functional capacity. It is important to pay attention to the needs of the elderly people and the use of accessibility in a familiar and safe environment when designing age technologies. In older people, the uptake of technology is significantly influenced by motivation, functional capacity, life experience, and values considered important. The challenges of adoption are related to the usability problems of technologies and the lack of familiarization. However, studies on use motivation have been said to be contradictory. The demographic structure will also change in the future and more elderly people will live independently with the support of age technologies. For these reasons, age technologies and their adoption must be studied more.
