Kaikissa Suomen kouluissa on vuodesta 2020 pit\u00e4nyt aloittaa varhainen\nkielenopetus jo ensimm\u00e4iselt\u00e4 luokalta l\u00e4htien. T\u00e4m\u00e4 uudistus lis\u00e4si kaksi vuosiviikkotuntia ensimm\u00e4iselle ja \ntoiselle luokka-asteelle. Halusin tutkia opettajien n\u00e4kemyksi\u00e4 ja heid\u00e4n k\u00e4ytt\u00e4mi\u00e4\u00e4n metodeja opetuksessa, sill\u00e4 \nuudistuksen tuoreuden vuoksi tutkimusta aiheesta ei juurikaan viel\u00e4 ole.\nTutkimus tehtiin laadullisena tutkimuksena haastattelemalla kolmea opettajaa, jotka ovat eri kaupungeista, mutta \nopettavat kaikki englannin kielt\u00e4 ensimm\u00e4isell\u00e4 luokalla. Tutkimuksen kannalta oli t\u00e4rke\u00e4 haastatella opettajia, \njoilla oli kokemusta my\u00f6s kolmannella luokalla alkaneesta englannin opetuksesta, jotta ensimm\u00e4isen ja kolmannen \nluokan englannin kielen opetuksen aloitusta pystyttiin kuvailemaan molemmilla luokka-asteilla. Haastattelut\ntoteutettiin et\u00e4yhteyden v\u00e4lityksell\u00e4 tai kasvotusten, jonka j\u00e4lkeen ne litteroitiin ja anonymisoitiin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 \npseudonyymej\u00e4. Haastatteludataa analysoitiin kvalitatiivisen teema-analyysin avulla. Haastatteluja vertailtiin \ntoisiinsa, samankaltaisten ja eroavien teemojen esiin saamiseksi.\nTulokset osoittivat, ett\u00e4 opettajien metodit olivat yleisesti ottaen aktivoivia, hauskoja ja leikillisi\u00e4. \nKoska tavoitteena on lis\u00e4t\u00e4 kieltenoppimismotivaatiota, merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4n\u00e4 asiana pidettiin kieliaineksen tuontia lapsen \ntasolle esimerkiksi leikin, pelin tai laulun kautta, jolloin oppiminen on mielek\u00e4st\u00e4 ja mukaansatempaavaa.\nPerinteisi\u00e4 \u201dkoulumaisia\u201d metodeja, kuten kokeita, testej\u00e4 ja lukemista pyrittiin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n tai ei \nollenkaan, sill\u00e4 varhaisen kielenopetuksen vaatimukset ovat niin v\u00e4h\u00e4iset, ettei niille ole tarvetta, eik\u00e4 niit\u00e4 juuri \nmuissakaan aineissa yleens\u00e4 k\u00e4ytet\u00e4 ensimm\u00e4isill\u00e4 luokilla. Aineistosta kumpusi my\u00f6s muita mielenkiintoisia \nhavaintoja. Kaikki haastatellut kertoivat muun muassa kolmasluokkalaisten itsesensuurista tai \u201dfiltterist\u00e4\u201d, jota \nekaluokkalaisilla ei viel\u00e4 ole havaittavissa, mik\u00e4 helpottaa heid\u00e4n oppimistaan.\nTulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 toiminnalliset, leikilliset ja lapselle ominaiset tavat oppia ovat haastateltujen opettajien \nmielest\u00e4 toimivimpia.
