Kieliprofiilin tavoitteena on kasvattaa lukiolaisen kielitietoisuutta, tehd\u00e4 n\u00e4kyv\u00e4ksi monikielisyytt\u00e4, sek\u00e4 edist\u00e4\u00e4 kieltenopiskelutaitoja ja itsearviointia. Saadaksemme tietoa kieliprofiilista jo ennen sen virallista k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6nottoa voidaan tutkia opettajien k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 kieliprofiilista. Tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 opettajien k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 kieliprofiilista, kieliprofiilin mahdolliset hy\u00f6dyt ja haitat, sek\u00e4 kieliprofiilin mahdolliset vaikutukset lukiolaisten kielitietoisuuteen ja kielivalintoihin. Tulokset perustuvat nelj\u00e4n lukion kieltenopettajan haastatteluihin ja ne on analysoitu sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysin keinoin, keskittyen opettajien k\u00e4sityksiin aiheesta. Tutkielman teoreettisena taustana toimivat kielitietoisuus, opettajien uskomukset, kieliprofiili ja lukion opetussuunnitelman perusteet 2019.\n\nTutkimus tarjosi uutta tietoa kieliprofiiliin liittyvist\u00e4 hy\u00f6dyist\u00e4 ja haasteista jo aiemmin tutkittujen tekij\u00f6iden korostamisen lis\u00e4ksi. Kieliprofiilin tuomista hy\u00f6dyist\u00e4 opettajat korostivat etenkin kieltenopiskelun motivaation kasvamista ja monikielisten lukiolaisten aseman parantamista. Kieliprofiilin suurimpina haasteina n\u00e4htiin lukiolaisten ja opettajien v\u00e4symykseen liittyv\u00e4t tekij\u00e4t sek\u00e4 k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6n haasteet, kuten ep\u00e4varmuus profiilin toteutustavasta. Haastateltavien mukaan kieliprofiili tulee edist\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n lukiolaisten kielitietoisuutta, mill\u00e4 voi olla positiivisia vaikutuksia kieltenopiskelulle. Tutkimuksessa selvisi my\u00f6s, ett\u00e4 osa lukiolaisista saattaa jatkaa valinnaisen kielen opiskelua pidemp\u00e4\u00e4n kieliprofiilin tuoman motivaation avulla, mutta valinnaisia kieli\u00e4 opiskelevien lukiolaisten m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4n ei todenn\u00e4k\u00f6isesti saada suurta muutosta kieliprofiililla. Haastatteluiden pohjalta todettiin, ett\u00e4 kieliprofiili tulee hy\u00f6dytt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n ja motivoimaan niit\u00e4 lukiolaisia, joilla on valmiuksia ottaa vastuuta omasta oppimisestaan, mutta saattaa esiinty\u00e4 haasteena niille opiskelijoille, joille lukio-opiskelu on haastavaa.\n\nJotta kieliprofiilista saadaan esille sen t\u00e4ydet hy\u00f6dyt, tulee opettajille tarjota selke\u00e4t ohjeet ja valmiita materiaaleja kieliprofiilin toteutukseen.
