Tutkielman empiirinen aineisto koostuu 22 puolistrukturoidusta teemahaastattelusta, joita on analysoitu fenomenografisella tutkimusotteella. Haastatteluaineistosta on tunnistettu merkityksellisi\u00e4 ilmauksia, joista on edetty kategorioiden ja ylempien kuvauskategorioiden muodostamiseen.\n\nJohtajat kokivat ty\u00f6n merkityksellisyyden t\u00e4rke\u00e4ksi ja kiinnostavaksi n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmaksi, jonka roolin uskovat tulevaisuudessa korostuvan entisest\u00e4\u00e4n. Aineistosta l\u00f6ydettiin kolme erilaista johtajien tapaa l\u00e4hesty\u00e4 ty\u00f6n merkityksellisyytt\u00e4. Yksil\u00f6keskeisess\u00e4 l\u00e4hestymistavassa ty\u00f6n merkityksellisyytt\u00e4 tarkasteltiin yksil\u00f6n omasta itsest\u00e4 tai yksil\u00f6n n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta k\u00e4sin. Yhteis\u00f6keskeisess\u00e4 l\u00e4hestymistavassa n\u00e4k\u00f6kulma laajeni itsest\u00e4 my\u00f6s toisiin, aina tiimeist\u00e4 ja organisaatioihin jopa globaalille tasolle saakka. Holistisessa l\u00e4hestymistavassa johtajat n\u00e4kev\u00e4t taas ty\u00f6n ja el\u00e4m\u00e4n kokonaismerkityksellisyyden olevan vahvassa yhteydess\u00e4 toisiinsa. Ty\u00f6n merkitysten ja t\u00e4yttymysten -kyselyn hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4miseen liittyvist\u00e4 johtajien k\u00e4sityksist\u00e4 tunnistettiin my\u00f6s kolme kategoriaa. Yksil\u00f6kategoriassa kysely\u00e4 ajateltiin voivan hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4n itsens\u00e4 johtamisessa. Tiimi-kategoriassa kyselyn ajatellaan soveltuvan k\u00e4ytett\u00e4v\u00e4ksi my\u00f6s tiimeiss\u00e4 ja Organisaatio-kategoriassa koko organisaation tasolla, esimerkiksi strategiaty\u00f6ss\u00e4.\n\nAiheen koetusta t\u00e4rkeydest\u00e4 huolimatta ty\u00f6n merkityksellisyytt\u00e4 ei tietoisesti ja j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4llisesti johdeta kovin monessa tutkimuksessa mukana olleessa organisaatiossa. Haastatellut johtajat kokivat Ty\u00f6n merkitysten ja t\u00e4yttymysten -kyselyn voivan toimia ty\u00f6kaluna, jonka avulla ty\u00f6n merkityksellisyydest\u00e4 voitaisiin p\u00e4\u00e4st\u00e4 organisaatioissa keskustelemaan ja ty\u00f6n merkityksellisyytt\u00e4 sek\u00e4 mittaamaan ett\u00e4 johtamaan.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The aim of this qualitative study was to examine the leaders' perceptions of meaningful work and how to foster it, as well as the use of Vocational Meaning Survey (VMS) in facilitating experiences of meaningfulness in work. This is a phenomenographic study and data was collected through 22 semi-structured thematic interviews. The data was sorted into qualitatively distinct categories of description after identifying relevant expressions and basic categories.\n\nMeaningful work is a topic that has gained attention of the leaders interviewed in this study and they believed it to become even more important in the future. Three categories of leaders\u00b4 perceptions of meaningful work were found in this study. In individual approach meaningful work was seen from individuals\u00b4 perspective while organizational approach also includes all stakeholders, even global level. In holistic approach leaders see work and life meaningfulness inseparable. The results also show that Vocational Meaning Survey could be used with individuals, teams and also on the organizational level.\n\nIt seems however, that currently most of the organizations participated in this study aren\u00b4t neither proactively or systematically trying to foster work meaningfulness among their employees.
